Chapter 19:
Amy's POV:
I twiddled my hair with my pencil, staring at the notes copied on the board. French class was probably the most boring thing ever, and a dull teacher to go along with it.
"Amy, stay focused!" Liam shouted from next to me, taking me out of my daydream.
"It's sort of hard with you in the room..." I murmured, thinking he couldn't hear me.
"What?"
I realized what I had said, and turned my face away from him, hiding my blushing cheeks, "Nothing..."
Thankfully the bell interrupted me from any more awkward questions, and I quickly grabbed my books, darting out of the classroom.
"What are you doing this afternoon?" I turned around to see Liam, his hands nervously in his pockets.
"Umm... Nothing I guess. Why?"
He twiddled with his thumbs, taking a step closer to me. My heart began to thump loudly in my chest, thinking of what he might ask me. "Well... Umm... Mrs. Dane wanted us to decide where the year would go for the next trip..."
I felt a little piece of my heart fall down to my stomach in disappointment, hoping it would be something a bit more than just school work, which it always seemed to be. I looked into Liam's eyes, and nodded my head in response.
He smiled back at me, his brown eyes sparkling. "Okay, Meet me in the science room in a few minutes."
I froze as he walked back down the hall, the hot and clustered groups of people bumping my shoulders as I stared at Liam's straight hair flouncing up and down. I could feel my heart the beating out of my chest, my palms sweaty.
I took a deep breath as I turned around, and slowly walked towards my locker on the other side of school. I grabbed a few books from it, which I would need for homework. I mentally ran through places we could go to in my mind as I walked down the hall; Madrid, Las Angelas, Rome, Moscow...
None of them seemed very interesting. Sure, they would be fun places to go, but there really is nothing different you could do there.
Our school is very wealthy, so wealthy that we can usually pay for a few exotic trips here and there. Usually Mrs. Dane picks where we all go, but this time it was different. I was a bit shocked when Liam had told me that Mrs. Dane wanted us to decide where to go.
I guess we had gotten on her good side this year. She always seemed to pick favorites, but yet, I didn't really want to be one of her 'favorites.' She was definitely a sly and sneaky woman, her gray eyes telling many wise stories from her past. I sometimes wondered about that woman, and what was going through that sneaky mind of hers.
I sighed as I continued to walk down the hallway, the bustle of bodies had died down, leaving a few stragglers here and there. I had a little bounce in my step as I turned the corner, the science room in sight. I walked through the open door, and smiled at Liam who was lounging in one of the chairs.
"Hey Li," I grinned.
"Hey gorgeous," he replied, using his current nickname for me perfectly.
I blushed as I sat at the desk across from him, dropping my bag on the floor.
"So she wanted us to discuss where the year would maybe want to go?" I asked.
"Yeah, she came and told me as I was walking to lunch."
I nodded at Liam's response, and lightly chewed on the end of my pencil.
"Stop that," Liam smirked. I looked in him in the eyes, and gave him a questionable look, "You might chew all of your teeth out of your head."
