Chapter 12: The Fascination of a child. P1.

 

{Phantomhive Manor: In the Morning}

 

[Ciel Phantomhive]

After finishing my morning tea in the dining hall, I go to my chambers. On my way there, I find sister hovering over something on a desk. She hasn’t noticed me yet, but I was curious to know what she was up to.

 

“What are you doing?” I ask.

 

Sister jumps up and quickly turns around with her hands behind her back. Her face was red from shock and she was holding her breath. I could tell that, she couldn’t think of any story to tell me.

 

“Never mind.” I sigh

 

Maybe it’s best If I didn’t know. Who knows what kind of weird things girls do anyhow. Take Lizzy, for example…..

 

I turn back around and take my book and I elsewhere. I was hoping to get in a good amount of reading done at my leisure, since there was nothing else better to do.

 

“Brother wait!” sister yelled.

 

“Hmm?”

 

I turn my head back to Helci, who was already behind me in the hallway.

 

“I want to go with you.”

 

I looked at her oddly for a bit.

 

“All right, whatever.” I respond.

 

{Afternoon}

 

Sister and I play a game of cards, while waiting for our afternoon tea. We are tied at the moment with 3-3.

 

“Very good sister, It seems that you may actually win this game. However, I won’t allow that to happen. Defeat for me isn’t an option.” I say determined.

 

“That’s bad for you then, because I’m giving it my all. Like you say brother, A Phantomhive’s pride is everything. And I want to prove myself to you.”

 

Something was off about Helci. I can’t really put my finger on it, but the way she’s handling those cards of hers is suspicious.

 

“This is it,brother. Now’s your chance to throw in the game.”

 

“As if I’m going to lose to my sister.”

 

“On three then?”

 

We were both focused on our decks. Sister and I always turn simple games like these into a competition. We basically trained like this everyday. It was always a life or death situation. Strategy and skill was everything.
