"Oh my goodness darling, it's beautiful!" my mom exclaimed when I showed her my engagement ring.

"Ya, it is." I said with a weak smile.

"We need to start planning the wedding details! You should get married at our local Church and.." and this was why i avoided telling my parents for so long. My mom is just to perky about everything! Well.. Almost everything.

As soon as i arrived back home from Brantford, Ontario where I'm in my third year of Psychology at Laurier University, my mom started to question me. It's normal though since I can only visit during Christmas break... Well, technically, I could visit a lot more but honestly, i choose not too. You see, my family is very, very wealthy. My parents are both lawyers and they own 3 of their own law firms and that's why they can afford to send me half way across the world for school. But, I don't like to be babied so i took a few matters into my own hands. While my parents pay for school, I'm using the money I make at my part time job at  The Brew (a local coffee shop), I pay for my co-ed dorm room and my necessities.

"Sweetie, you need to tell me how it happened! Sweetie?" my mom said. nudging me and bringing me back to reality.

"Well, on my birthday he took me out to dinner and got down on one knee and proposed.." I trailed off.

"But, your birthday was almost 3 months ago, why didn't you tell us earlier?" she gave me a questioning look.

"I..Uh.. I wanted to see the look on your face when I told you in person.. But, excuse me, I'm really tired, I'm going to head to bed." I said, turning away.

"But, your father should be home soon and I know he's very excited to see you."

I turned back around and walked up to my mom, "tell him I was really tired and had to turn in early. I'll see him tomorrow morning. Give him a kiss for me! Night mom!" I said as i gave her a quick hug and hurried up the stairs.

As soon as I got to my room, I plopped down on my bed and was glad to see my room just as I had left it.

I lifted my left hand up to and saw the huge rock.

Mason and I first met two years ago and we instantly became good friends. I guess I kind of had a crush on him but, I didn't want it to turn into anything serious since I still had feelings for my ex. But, as time went on I decided to give him a chance and now were getting married.

As I thought about Mason and my passed relationships, i slowly drifted into sleep.
