"Is this Delilah Olivia Harper?" A female voice asks. She's oddly chipper.

"Um, yeah this is she. Who are you?" I ask. I don't recognize the number and it's not saved in my phone.

"We are a small organization called HavenWood. We would like to recruit you for a study on the female anatomy." The lady says. She speaks formally and her voice is a higher octave than when she asks me my name.

My heart drops into my stomach. I panic and fumble to immediately hit the record button on my phone. How did she know my name? And how'd she get my number?

"Delilah? Are you still there? We would like to recruit you for an amazing new study on the female anatomy. Your friend Aaron suggested you as a candidate. " She says and everything stops. Aaron suggested me. HE said my full name and number to a random person from the one place I want to destroy.

"Hi, yes. Um...you said you're from HavenWood?" I say.

I grab my keys and head for the door. When I open it, Aaron just stands there.  His face is conflicted. Like he's torn between two forces.

Between attacking me or grabbing me to keep me safe. But he chooses the former and reaches for me. I dodge his attack and smack his face with my phone.

"What the hell have you done Aaron?! Why are you doing this!?" I shout as he recovers and comes at me again. He kicks me in my side.

I'm thrown off balance and drop to my knees holding my side. The groan I let out makes his eyes water the tiniest bit. He kneels down and holds my chin gently.

"After I left the other night, they kidnapped me. They put a tracker inside of me," He whispers as he shows me a large cut in his neck.

"They said they'd kill me if I didn't grab you, and bring you and Lily in. She's in my trunk right now. But I knew you'd fight back. I don't know if I can get this chip out. And I think they put it on a nerve. It hurts." His face crumbles slightly. He lets out a quiet sob.

Despite my rage toward him, I can't let him die. I won't let him die. So I make the ultimate decision.

"Take me then. But tell them I have one request." I say as he grabs ties from his bag at the door and wraps them around my wrists. I whisper into his ear a small message to whoever has him in control.

He pulls out a syringe with clear liquid in it and sticks it into my neck. Everything becomes a little hazy as I black out. I feel my body being lifted up. And I hear Aaron on the phone.

I can't make out fully what he says, but all I know is that he's on his way to them. Suddenly I hear the sound of outside, the street loud and the air chilly. I'm placed into a car and the door is slammed shut.

I hear a grunt in an effort to wake up more. And I hear a thud before Lily sighs, before mumbling a curse and turning her head. I feel her moving around before she gasps and grabs my shoulder. I feel her shake me.

But I can't wake up. I can only feel and hear things. She keeps shaking me before we jolt in the back. She hits her head again and yelps. That does the trick because my eyes flutter open.

"D!? Are you ok?" She whispers as she rubs her aching forehead. I grunt as my body begins to thrum to life.  I move my arm and move her hand out of the way. I take a look at the bump already forming on her head and rub it soothingly.

No matter how angry I am at her, I always want to make sure she's OK. She smiles at the gesture and leans into it the slightest bit.

I pull away before she pulls me in. I sigh as I look around. We're both in the trunk, with no idea where we're headed.

"Where were you when you got the call?" I ask. Lily looks back at me and ponders for a minute. Then two.

"I was at the range, at least that's the last thing I remember. I was shooting. So I couldn't hear. But I'd stopped long enough to hear my ringtone,"

"Someone I didn't know, someone from HavenWood, had called saying they wanna recruit me? I tried to question who it was but then a needle was put into the side of my neck and I woke up in here." She utters. I nod my head.

I don't know if I should tell her about Aaron. If I should tell her I gave us up so he wouldn't die. But when I open my mouth to spill the secret, the car stops. And we jiggle around in the back before we hear the door of the car slam closed.

I hold my breathe and wait for him to throw open the trunk, but that moment never comes. We wait with bated breathe, but nothing happens. We hear the door of the car open and close another time and we start driving again.

We stop once more, and this time the trunk flies open.

"Aaron, what the actual fuck is happening?" Lily says as he pulls her out of the car. She looks at me as he pulls me out. We look at the facility that's meant to be HavenWood .

"We are entering sacred ground. So mind your step as you walk." A guard says as Aaron leads us down the pathway. Everyone is dressed in crisp, clean suits. And as we step through the doors, the smell of disinfectant penetrates my nose.

I hear the sounds of heels slapping against the marble floor. But when I look up, my blood drains. My heart quickens its pace as I stare at the woman before me.

"Welcome Liliane Ama Parish and Delilah Olivia Harper. To the one place you despise most,"

"Welcome to HavenWood." My mother says with her arms held wide and her smile even wider.
