Chapter 16

'Hmmm, what the hell...' Nexus slowly opened his eyes...or at least he "felt" like opening his eyes witnessing a similar room but is much more different...

He could see someone standing up doing something of a morning routine.

Although he doesn't need to know since he's seeing a familiar physique and short hair of a young girl. Pretty odd for normal "human" standards but he could assume it's a medical checkup which confirms his assumptions coming in greeting.

'Mash, huh' Nexus speaks through his mind realizing that he's witnessing his Servant's past from what he heard from Da Vinci. The doctor that comes in refers to her as "Number 2." He was checking up on her regularly in a stressed out face.

The doctor reports that it's her 5, 110th awakening and that she responded in a heartfelt manner that it's very special to her until it fades off.

Upon awakening, he was met with Fou nibbling on his cheek showing no irritation from his antics thinking on that dream putting his hand over his forehead. A relaxed sigh coming out of his breath.

'So this how Master and Servants work. It cross minds each other to see each of their past lives...' Nexus confirmed in his mind, 'Guess I don't need to worry about shutting off...' he gets up to see Mash scolding Fou not to bite on his face giving his usual greeting to her.

"Morning Mash."

"Good morning, Senpai. It's good to see you awake."

Jeanne then comes in to check on Nexus, "Good morning, Nexus." she said with a smile, "I see that you're up and ready for the next mission."

He gently takes Fou putting him down rubbing the back of his neck stretching, "I guess so. Let's go to the command room and get to the briefing."

"Oh before we go, Senpai. We have good news." Mash interrupts Nexus to deliver her message from Roman, "Doctor reported that one of the Master candidates' life signs are showing and is about to regain consciousness. This is wonderful!" Mash said happy that one of the Masters is going to help Nexus, "Although the others aren't showing any response of waking up but we have at least one of them are showing signs."

"Heh, is that so? Then might as well at least meet our returning guest then. I assume you know where the direction is at Mash?"

"Yes. Right this way." he gets up and walks out to the door with Jeanne following Mash with Fou jumping at her shoulder.

They reached to the place where all of the 47 Masters were in cryostasis. During the sabotage, Director Marie issued an order to put them in cryopreservation to keep them alive...well to those whoever are left. The group saw Doctor and Da Vinci together in one of the cryo pod assuming that it's the Master Mash was referring to as the two noticed their arrival.

"Hello, everyone." Da Vinci greeted them, "You arrived just in time for the miracle."

"Good morning, Da Vinci. Good morning, Doctor." Mash greets the both of them and Jeanne following up with the greeting.

"Good morning Mash, Jeanne, Nexus." Roman greets the three of them, "I've just finished setting up for this one. Once she's released, we need to run in some procedures to make sure that her conditions are good."

""Her"?" Nexus lifts his eyebrow.

"Yes we just received that the Master in cryopreservation is a female. Her name is Fujimaru Ritsuka. Like you, she also signed up from a civilian to a magus. Well for her, she doesn't have aptitude as a magus but she's fits the conditions on Rayshifting." Roman checked her status having the compatibility to Rayshift. "It'll be nice to have another Master helping you."
