thursday, august 19, 6:08 pm.

bell daintily wiped her mouth with a cloth napkin before slightly scooting her dining chair backwards.

"thank you for dinner, lucille. very well cooked, may i say!" she complimented.

the older woman waved her hand about, a shy smile on her face. "you flatter me, dear. mark, be more like bell."

mark threw his hands in the air, an exasperated sigh leaving his mouth. "why do i even try-"

bell stopped him, saying a few words of objection. "don't act like i shouldn't be the favorite. we both know i'm the one who does the dishes when i'm over here!"

she poked and prodded at his sides, earning wheezy laughter and swatting hands, the latter which she dodged.

mark's mother chuckled again, waving them off. "begone, go play video games or something. you two are off dish-duty... for now." she jokingly hissed the last words, causing the two teens to scramble from the table and up the stairs.

laughter could be heard from all three of them.

with a few heaving breaths, mark and bell had successfully made their way to mark's room and shut the door. bell's nails tapped a soft beat into the painted wood before she moved away from it.

mark flopped down onto his bed and looked up and over at bell. she padded over and sat beside him, chuckling a bit when he moved his head into her lap. she absently ran her fingers through his hair a few times as she pulled out her phone. he made a few soft, pleased sounds before sitting back up.

"what do you wanna do?" he asked with a sigh.

"mm," she hummed. "we could play video games."

mark nodded and stood, offering his hand to help bell up as well. when she swatted him away, he playfully rolled his eyes and padded over to his computer set up.

bell dutifully followed behind, watching as he sat down and logged in. she watched as his fingers stretched along the keyboard, pressing all the right keys at all the right times.

she looked closer at his hands and observed. she noted the way they bent at the top joint if he put enough pressure into it, and the way his knuckles were slightly pink. she watched as veins began to define themselves with each key he clicked. it was almost... mesmerizing...

"bell?" mark said, waving a hand in front of her face. "are you okay? you like, zoned out or something."

"hm?" she felt her cheeks flush. "yeah, i'm fine."

the boy hummed and turned back to the monitor.

'what the fuck was that?' bell mentally scolded herself.

ignoring the previous events, she watched again as mark opened minecraft and started up their shared world.

a few hours had passed, and the two teens were now laying on the carpeted floor, staring at the ceiling, and talking about whatever they felt like.

bell let out a yawn, causing mark to look over and nudge her with his elbow.

"sleepy?" he asked.
