Hoshi woke up.
In a cold sweat, panic engulfed her whole body.
Her upper body shot up, then she realised she was in a hospital bed, in a dark and cold hospital room.
She was breathing hard and fast. She felt like she was suffocating, so she ripped the facemask off her face. Then continued to rip the IV thingies out from her arm.
The hospital room was lit by the full moon that was outside the open window. She looked to the other side of the room, where she saw Keigo laying down with Kat on his chest on a make-shift bed made out of hospital chairs.
I'm...
Back.
"Welcome back to the land of the living." She heard a loud whisper. Hoshi turned at the window to see Kyomi jumping through it, quietly landing on the ground, like a true assassin.
As Kyomi walked towards her, Hoshi noticed that her two signature white streaks were gone. Hoshi shifted a bit, baking away a little from Kyomi.
"It's fine, Hoshi. It's me, I promise." She said, walking towards Hoshi with caution.
"I thought I was dead." Hoshi said, the fear and confusion was obvious in her voice.
"You were!" Kyomi responded as she sat down on the edge of Hoshi's hospital bed. "I healed pretty quik after the fall, then found your body, and I couldn't find a pulse." Kyomi took a deep breath, "Then, I did all I could to save you. I couldn't even help finish the war till I got you to a medic and forced them to rush you to a hospital."
"You should've helped the fight, instead of worrying about me." Hoshi said, emotionless with her words, looking down and playing with her fingers. "I thought you wouldn't put anyone's life above a mission. What happened?"
"After everything that's happened to me in my life, not one person wouldʻve sacrificed their life for me. You were willing to lose everything for me, and that got me thinking...I would have done the same for you." Kyomi grabbed one of Hoshi's hand's and held it tight. "I thought having nothing to lose makes someone powerful. But a wonderful woman once told me, "Having something to fight for makes someone unstoppable." And I never knew what she meant, but now I understand." Kyomi moved closer to Hoshi. "I know what Nanami was trying to teach me. And no matter how much you hate to admit it, you're just like her..." Kyomi pulled Hoshi in for a hug, "But only the good parts" Kyomi smiled, got off of Hoshi, then got off her bed.
Hoshi sat upright, "Where are you going?"
With one leg out the window, Kyomi responded, "To fight for what I love, Hoshi." She gave the biggest smile Hoshi has ever seen.
Kyomi jumped out the window, and vanished in a cold breeze. Hoshi jumped off the hospital bed to chase after her. She darted towards the window, grabbing on the ledge, and she couldn't find Kyomi.
Hoshi was about to jump out the window, but was stopped by a hand on her shoulder and pulled her back into the room. She turned around and was met with a mask covering the bottom half of her brother's face.
There were no words that had to be said at this moment. The air was still. Keigo's fear of losing his only family slowly melted away from his chest. Then he pulled her in for a hug.
Hoshi hugged him back. When her hands felt the empty holes on his back, she knew that his wings were probably gone for good. This thought couldn't help but make Hoshi blame herself, she started to cry.
"Holy shit, Hoshi." Kat said, rushing towards them from across the room. She pushed Keigo off of Hoshi and went in for a hug, leaving Keigo irritated but he couldn't talk, Kat knew that so she's really taking advantage of it.
