Chris' POV
After we danced for a little while, we went back to the table to order dessert. We shared a piece of cheesecake and chit chatted for a little bit more. I paid for our food and we stood up. I went to her and grabbed her waist.
"Take your shoes off" I whispered in her ear. I was smiling. She looked confused. I pointed my head towards her shoes. She took them off. I swept her up bridal style so she wouldn't have to walk on the wood on her bare feet. I carried her to the beach. I put her down and took my shoes off. The pier was lit with lights because it was dark. I grabbed her hand and we walked along the shore. It was so romantic.

Scarlett's POV
This man will be the death of me. I can't believe we are walking on the beach hand in hand. I was on the side closest to water.
"This is nice" I said. He looked at me with a smile.
"It sure is. The most beautiful place with the most beautiful girl." He said. I blushed till my cheeks turned tomato. I stopped and let go of his hand. He turned to look at me. I turned to face the ocean. The breeze was in my hair and the water felt so nice on my feet. I had to be careful because of my pants. I was so happy and calm. I felt like nothing else mattered. I felt strong arms wrap around me from behind. I just giggled and sighed. He put his head on my shoulder in the crook of my neck. There was a silence, but a comfortable one. He let go and dragged me to the sand and I sat next to him with my head on his shoulder.

Chris' POV
"My father used to take my mother to the beach all the time. He told me, when she got mad at him, he would find her at the beach. She said she had to remember how much she loved him and find a part of her to forgive him." I said to her. I hope this could be something we do in the future. This could be our happy place.
"Now I know where to go if you piss me off." She said with a smirk. We both laughed.
"Can I ask you something?" I asked her.
"You just did." She said. I chuckled.
"Haha...very funny." I said sarcastically.
"Of course you can." She said with a smile.
"Are you happy?" I asked. She took a deep breath. Obviously it was sensitive topic for her considering her history with men and everything.
"Well...you make me happy right now." She said. I saw a tear slip out. We stayed in silence for a moment until she continued.
"I mean...after everything I've been through, I don't really think I know what true happiness is. I mean everyone that I thought made me happy ended up taking advantage of me or breaking my heart. They made me feel like shit for the most part. Now I only know what things or people make me happy, but I don't know what true happiness is I guess. I experience happiness in the moment rather than overall." She said honestly. A few more tears slipped out. I wiped them away with my thumb and pulled her into my chest.
"I have not experienced even half the things that you have been through. The pain. The torture. The constant stress and anxiety. The only thing I can do is be here for you and not let anyone else hurt you ever again. I promise you that I will not let anyone hurt you again. I hate that those so called men hurt you and took away your hope for happiness. I am here to make sure to bring it back." I said stroking her back and hair. Then suddenly I heard her crying. I hugged her tighter. I wanted her to let it all out. I continued to run her hair and kissed the top of her head. She soon stopped. She lifter her head up and was wiping her eyes. She gave me smile to let me know she was going to be okay as long as I'm with her.
"Thank you." She said.
I stood up and helped her to stand. She grabbed her shoes that were next her. I picked her up bridal style again. She laughed at my gesture. I loved to see her smile. I carried her back to the car. I put her in the seat and went to the driver's side.

Scarlett's POV
The ride home was quiet, but it was okay. It was what I needed. I was glad Chris was there for me. He always was, but now it seems like he's not going anywhere. It's what I need the most right now. I don't think I could last without him. He opened my door on the passenger side and I stepped out and walked to the door. I opened the door to my house and walked in. I told Chris to come inside. I laid my purse and keys on the island and looked at Chris who was smiling.
"Thank you for tonight. It was amazing." I said smiling walking closer to him.
"No problem. It was my pleasure. I'm glad you had a good time." He said. He turned to walk to the door but I grabbed his arm. He turned and I wrapped my arms around his neck.
"Where do you think you're going mister?" I asked in a seductive tone. He put his hands on my waist and let out a sigh.
"Home. I'm so tired." He said. I could tell he was tired. I felt bad for keeping him here. I let out a sigh and played with the collar of his shirt.
"No goodnight kiss?" I asked with a smirked and pouted lips. He started shaking his head and laughing. I bit my lip and looked into his eyes. I leaned closer and pressed my lips to his. It was a gentle and soft kiss. He kissed back grabbing my waist tighter and my hands were on both sides of his face. I did not want to pull back, but he was so tired and needed sleep. I eventually pulled back and we looked into each other's eyes. Both smiling.
"Good night." He said in a low tone.
"Good night." I said in the same tone. He released his hold and made his way to the door. I walked him out and shut the door. I leaned against the door and sighed. I was content. I went upstairs and changed into some sleep shorts and a t-shirt and fell asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow.
