North Dakota, 1972.
It has been exactly seven days since the unfortunate death of my parents. My heart aches tremendously and my head throbs simultaneously; and most hurtful of all, is the memory of the night of the incident, that led to my parents unfortunate death. I have been speechless and depressed for the past seven days.
I have isolated myself from society, settling deep down in a cellar of a banded building, with absolutely no electricity. I leave only by night, after the clock strikes midnight. Additionally, Ever since their death, I have been emotionally impaired; no one and nothing can help me recover.
At night, I visit my parents in their grave, to grieve their death. Until one night, the tenth night since the incident to be specific, something horrifying occurred. That night, while visiting my parents grave, the ground creaked, and the wind howled; a wave of fear sprung through me, sending goosebumps around my body. I was sure of one thing, I wasn't the only one there this time.
Who knew I would see someone, now, at this time; someone not visiting anyone in particular, rather spying on me. Looking at him in the distances I saws his eyes were big and black, watching my every move. He wore torn clothing and had missing teeth. Slowly, this old man stalked me through the shadows, through the cemetery and among the dead. It wasn't until I noticed a gun in his hand that I started to run.
I ran as far as I can, stumbling on scattered piles of bones, screaming out for my dead parents. I tried reaching for my phone to call the police, but it fell out of my pocket and tumbled onto the ground; I cursed under my rapid breath while running. From a distance not too far, Several gunshots were audible, making me run faster, and filling me with adrenaline. Finally, I arrived to a nearby barn that my parents and I would go to in the summer. Upon my arrival, I climbed to the upper floor to hide between the dead rotting animals. The stench was absolutely intolerable, it smelled like vomit and raw sewage; I held my breath for what seemed like eternity. I lay there between the stale hay crouched as low as I can with a sheet covering my body. I was trembling, everything in this room screamed he was coming; I lay their for about what seemed five whole minutes. Until, a creak on the floor boards made my heart pound in my chest, filling me with adrenaline. I didn't dare move or breath, I was horrified.
As I lay there, I think, who may this stranger chasing me, be? Additionally, if he really is in this barn, is he trying to lure me out of my hiding with his complete silence?
Despite his intentions, I knew not to move. Eventually, I fell asleep in my fixed position till morning. However, upon my awakening, I moved, forgetting a creature was out there seeking me. Suddenly, as if on impulse, I froze like a statue, sensing his presence. Before I got a chance to yell, he was in my face, staring gravely at me.
I was speechless, I couldn't move nor breathe, and at that moment I was paralyzed. After what seemed like an eternity I choked and to my surprise words followed, "Who are you, and why are you following me?" I instantly regretted it, hesitant to hear his voice and his response. "You really don't know...?" He spoke in a gravelly and demanding voice, "What am I supposed to know?" I spoke with fear, my hands were shaking uncontrollably, my face drained of color. He paused for a moment, as if considering whether to tell me something or not. Finally, "Oh Isabelle, poor you, your depressed in life, I might as well end your memory of it all"
It? What is he talking about? How does he know? Screaming was my first instinct, and I would have, but before a word was out of my mouth, the creature was on me. The last thing I remember was the black gun in his old greasy hands; the rest I'm unsure.
