                           Minnah Zhou

The group looked up at the brick-layed building in front of them. Despite how worn-out the bricks were, the glass and the basic structure of the building gave it a modern and homey feel. Through the see-through push-in door, Minnah spotted someone behind the desk with their head lowered on the table. She tried to get a better view of the person by standing on her tippy-toes, but it was no use. If Henry were there, he could’ve been useful for once (as a stepstool, of course).

Daniel proudly placed his hands on his hips and beamed up at the sign which had the lights flickering for some reason. It had a surprisingly welcoming atmosphere even though she didn’t really trust this part of Brookhaven. In fact, Brookhaven in general was a terrifying place. She felt like with each breath she took, she was inhaling toxic metals. At this rate, she was sure she’d get second-hand lung cancer!

Even so, she couldn’t keep an eye off of the male at the desk. From what she could see, his hair was dyed blue and seeing as his hands were slowly dancing across the keyboard, there was a chance he wouldn’t come out anytime soon. Minnah’s sleeve draped over her hands and she timidly placed her hands together. What if he didn’t like her? What if he thought she smelled? Or was a midget? No, he couldn’t possibly think that, she’s a couple of inches taller than an actual midget, but he didn’t exactly look like the smartest fish in the bowl.

Daniel smiled towards the group, giving a thumbs up to them and then hitting the buzzer on the door. The sudden sound made her leap and the rest of them stared at her as if she were something out of a movie. Did she have food on her face? She leaned over and checked on herself in the glass. Nope, no food on her face, but the guy finally paid attention to the people who were waiting outside for him.

What was she supposed to say? Should she shake his hand? Just say hi? What if he thought that her voice was annoying and then never wants to talk to her again? Then Callum would be embarrassed and never marry her and she’d grow up old and lonely and would never find love. Henry would be laughing at her, but he would have no room to talk because he’d be on his tenth divorce because he just sucked. But a very small part of Minnah did miss her friend. Only a little bit though, she wouldn’t give him that much credit.

While deep in thought, she felt someone tap her shoulder. As a reflex, she quickly slapped the person’s hand away. Unfortunately for her, maybe she should’ve looked to see who it was.

He didn’t look mad at all, Callum was actually smiling. His kindness was honestly admirable, and he just shrugged it off. The guy that was at the desk was holding the door, probably waiting for them. Callum pointed his head towards the store and grabbed Minnah’s hand.

It caught her off guard, but of course she appreciated the gesture. If a hot guy held your hand, you’d feel the same way too. Especially someone like Callum. Seriously, who made him so perfect? It was like Aphrodite and Apollo had a child. Even though that technically would be weird, Gragian gods always had kids with each other, relationships didn’t matter.

Soon enough, she was snapped out of her trance once they were finally inside and the guy went behind his desk. He was around the same height as Henry and his hair was tied in a bun just like hers and he fixed the beanie on his head and scratched the side of his head.

“So, what’s up, Danny?” the man asked, obviously trying to be polite. But he looked tired and bored.Minnah guessed sitting down on your butt all day wouldn’t be that fun at all.

Daniel turned to the group, and explained that he needed some fake ID cards.

“Oh seriously, that was it? Wow, I never took you for the rebellious type,” the guy smiled, showing off some awfully concerning sharp teeth. Seriously, why do his teeth look like that? Not being rude or anything, of course.
