"For the love of god, get that shit off you."

Donghyuck turned around and smirked at Renjun, who was giving him the stink-eye for trying on a wig. The rest of the crew had gone home, leaving the dynamic duo. "All the better to piss you off with, my dear."

"Mhm, yes, now take this and get your skates on because I have a life waiting for me at home."

A broom was thrown to the younger as he wobbled to catch it, the long, ugly, platinum-blonde wig sliding down one side of his head. He shook it off and it landed with a plop on the end of the broom handle. The utensil now looked like a stick-woman. "Hey Huang, what do you make of this?"

Renjun turned back around with a creased forehead and pointed at it, eyes narrowing. "Your mother."

"No, you were meant to say Britney."

"Just start sweeping and let's see who gets to leave this place first, 'kay?"

He nodded with a hidden victorious smirk; he always loved testing the limits with this guy's patience, and had been doing so since the first time he auditioned for a school show a few years ago. "Yeah, yeah."

Silence grew thick as they actually got some work done. It was like this for almost the rest of their tidy-up, but of course, all good things come to an end.

"Donghyuck."

"...Yup?"

Renjun kicked the rest of the boxes and racks of borrowed clothes to the side, where he knew they could get back at them for tomorrow's dress rehearsal. They only had a few left...And then the school year would also be over soon. "Daejoon...um, you portray Daejoon quite well."

"Gee, that's nice."

He dusted his hands and gave Donghyuck an offended frown, feeling as though he should stuff the problematic actor into one of the boxes along with the ratty wig. "I don't compliment you guys often, and when I do, all I get from you is a 'gee, that's nice'. At least Chenle thanks me and sometimes blushes. But you."

Donghyuck hushed him by gently tapping him over the head with the wigged end of the broom, smiling in amusement. He then hesitantly ruffled the shorter boy's hair affectionately. "Thank you very much, Director Huang."

Renjun just narrowed his eyes at him through the hair that the younger had flattened over his eyes. He kinda blushed too but he probably didn't even notice. The gym-turned-theatre was clean now, and prepared for the dress rehearsal. The last dress rehearsal before he would no longer be at this school. Well that was a sad thought.

Donghyuck removed his hand before it could possibly be bitten off and spun the broom. "Do you know what's fun?"

"What, riling me up?"

"No. Riling Jisung up!"

Renjun squinted and tilted his head, looking back in his mind on the times when Jisung had acted childishly miffed in front of Donghyuck. "Right, so you take pride in messing with my best actor? Why?"

He leaned down with a smirk and laughed through his nose. Renjun tilted backwards away from the imposing figure of an annoying classmate. "Because he and Chenle are teasable. Haven't you noticed the sparks flying between th- You know what? You can't even recognise the sparks flying around yourself let alone those two."

"Babble. All I heard was babble, so let's just go home now."

"...Jeez, fine." But before they did, he patted Renjun's head again with an empathetic poignance in his eyes. They looked at each other, Renjun unsure of what Donghyuck was trying to do. The hand settled on top of his hair and with a heartfelt smile and he observed the look of confusion Renjun's pretty face. The younger just gave him a go-get-it thumbs up and danced away, leaving the director to decode a message in the behaviour.

Of course, Donghyuck's message was empathetic. Renjun was hesitant about leaving school next year, and he had picked up on that. He would always be able to tell when the older boy was spacing out.
