It goes with me everywhere: to school, at home, hanging out with friends. It's almost always within my reach. My name, Talynn Stone, is scrawled on the blue and silver cover. What is it? A diary? No, it's my songbook. It's the place where I record my thoughts in the form of lyrics. I suppose it is like a diary, but it is much more. It is music, expression, an escape. Nobody knows how much I value it, because nobody actually knows what lies on the pages.
All of my songs are contained within this one notebook. This is the only place in which they exist. Personal and truthful messages lie within my works. Occasionally a silly love poem about no one in particular will appear, but the best songs are the ones I write about my experiences. This notebook is an ongoing time capsule of the past two years or so since I began writing original music. One page tells of the time I was scared of losing my best friend because her family had considered moving. Another page holds the thoughts of a girl crushing on a black-haired guitar player. A later page tells the story of how the girl and the guitarist became boyfriend and girlfriend.
In a way, it is a diary, but it is a diary meant to be sung, with guitar or piano backing the words. It's the diary of a girl who uses a form of poetry to bring meaning to her life. Its the diary of a girl who uses lyrics to convey her feelings. It's the diary of a girl who is too shy to chase her dream of being a songwriter.

I'll warn you now, I'm not quite sure where I'm going with this story yet. I thought it would be a good idea to try out so I'll see if it gets anywhere. Anyway, enjoy!
