The Meeting

Friday Night Before the Meeting

"You ready for tomorrow? Going to be a whole lot of testosterone in one room." Nick said jokingly.

"I am so glad I do not have to be there" Alex said, a bit too happily, I might add. Rachel, her mate, nodded saying, "Definitely don't need all that male energy in my life".

"Me either!" Mariah yells at her and Ethan walk into the kitchen.

"Hey! I'm a male? Nick's a dude, Henry's a dude. What's wrong with "male energy"?" Ethan exclaims.

"I don't know if y'all count" Rachel says. Alex snorts. And Mariah giggles helplessly.

"And why wouldn't we count? I'm the King. I'm about as "male energy" as it gets" I say.

"Eh. I mean y'all are just like normal. Some of those Alphas are whack."

"I'm going to pretend like I know what that means", I say back.

Rachel never makes any sense to me.

I've got other things to worry about.

—————————

After dinner was over, Nick and I head to my office for further discussion.

We are strategizing for war. All the different possibilities, trying to allow for every outcome. I know that's impossible, but at least we'll be prepared for most of them.

After a few hours, Nick heads off to bed. He'll be corralling Alphas tomorrow, along with Ethan and Mariah. Alex and Rachel are steering clear. "Emergency Training Exercises". Also know as, hate when high testosterone Alphas make comments about the hot lesbians. No matter how many edicts I make about same sex mating, some of these Alphas are still fucking morons about it. They cannot legally banish same sex mates, but I know they don't treat them equally. Most of them become rogues because they don't want to put up with it.

I glance over at the picture on my desk.

Grace.

My mate. My soul.

Dead. Has been for almost 10 years. I met her when I was 21 and she was 18. God, she was incredible. But all of this was just too much for her. So we only saw eachother every once in a while. Casual dating, she called it. Until she died in a car accident 8 months after we met. It would've killed me if we were fully mated. I guess I can be thankful to her for that.

Snapping back to reality, I realize that it is almost 3 am. The Alphas should be here by 10. I need to go to sleep, otherwise it'll tough to keep myself from killing someone.

———————-

The Great Hall was filled with Alphas. Although, there were a few noticeable absences.

"Notice that Randolph and his few allies didn't show?" Nick questions.

"Definitely. Don't see the "King" here either", I'm winning that $100.

"He'll show. I know it."

"If you say so. Let's get this show on the road". I say, unenuthsiactically.

"Alright, settle down, guys. I think we all know why we are gathered here. We are on the brink of war with the Blood Dragon coven and their allies. They have relentlessly attacked innocents without provocation in the last few months. It is time to end this."

"We need to eliminate all the filthy blood suckers. Who's to say another group won't start it again?" Alpha Stevens yells.

I'm surprised he didn't stay at home with his buddy Randolph. He should've.

"There's no need to eliminate them all. Why would we? We have lived in peace with vampires for many years" said Alpha Bradford. Always a logical, calm mind from him.

Soon, the room erupts with small arguments everywhere. I look to Nick who just shrugs his shoulders, like what did you think would happen sticking all these Alphas in a room.

I just sit back. Watch. Listen. Wait. Letting them expel whatever they need to before getting down to real business.

Suddenly, the massive double doors to the Great Hall swing open.

I hear Lee and Alex yelling "hey, you can't go in there, there's a meeting going on!"

I stare at the figure, who is now in the middle of the room. The Hall that was loud with arguments is silent.

"Sorry, I'm late. Didn't mean to interrupt, although doesn't seem like much was being accomplished" the figure spoke.

"What the hell do you think you're doing, rogue?" Stevens spat.

"Well, I was invited, Stevens. Seems rather obvious to me".

"Why the fuck would you be invited? You're a filthy-"

"I'm what, Stevens? I'll have you know that the King here invited me" the rogue said smugly.

"What?!" Several Alphas shouted.

"Yeah, right here it says to the King of Rogues. You are in-"

"So you're the Rogue King? Interesting." Nick says slyly. Looking over at me with a smirk.

Lost that bet.

"Welcome, King of Rogues. What can I call you?" I say with a slight Alpha tone.

"Vic."

"Okay, Vic. Why don't you take a seat? I think some of the Alphas here are bit in shock learning the King of Rogues is a she-wolf".

This day has became very interesting.
