~Ari~
Standing in the middle of my living room was Dare and his mate, Denise.
"You guys arrived earlier than I expected." I said, surprised, reaching out to hug them both. "We both missed you, so we decided to arrive early. We also wanted to surprise you," said Denise.
"Surprise me? You guys are lucky I didn't stick a knife into any of you!" I said, joking. They both laughed at that.
"Well, I just came back from an assignment, so I'm beat. I'm off to bed. You guys are on your own!" I called out as I climbed up the stairs which led to my bedroom, before any one of them could stop me. Especially Denise.
My bedroom consisted of a four poster bed, my weapon collection, and my desk. I like to live in comfort as I never could as a child.
I shook my head to clear my head of unwanted, intruding memories of the past.
I wrapped myself in shadows and reappeared in my bathroom. I could have walked there, but what’s the point of having powers if you don't use them?
I'm a reaper assassin.
Reapers are assassins who have powers which aid in killing. The degree of our powers varies in deadliness. Mine's pretty minor.
I'm able to disappear into shadows. It makes killing targets easier, but I also know how to kill in a hundred and one ways, human or immortal.
My brother is also a reaper but he's the CEO of some company, so he uses his powers to dig out his rival's plans and secrets.
Denise is a vampire, as well as my best friend. And she's like family to me. She is the sweetest person I know, but she doesn't take crap from anyone. If she was pissed, I did not want to be on the receiving end of it.
I took a quick shower and pounced face down onto my expensive, five thousand tread-count silk sheets.
I fell asleep instantly.
"Wake up already! Its seven o'clock now!"
I woke up to a feminine voice, shouting at me.
More specifically, Denise.
"Alright, alright, I'm awake!"
I grumbled into my pillows, still laying face down on my bed. I heard Denise leave my room before rolling off my bed. Damn that perky vampire.
I showered and got dress in my usual ensemble; black shirt, black leather jacket and jeans.
I grabbed some of my weapons and slid them into my jacket sleeves, my belt, and under the ankle of my jeans.
I went downstairs and saw a letter on my living room table.
"What is that?" I asked my brother, who was sitting with Denise on my sofa.
"I don't know, it came yesterday after you went to bed." Said Dare, handing me the letter. I moved to take it from his hands.
I tore the envelope open and quickly scanned through the letter.
"It’s just a new assignment." I said to Dare, who looked at me after I put down the letter.
"Who's the new target?" asked Denise, curiosity lacing through her words.
"Name's Anderson Smith. Age 29, worked his way up the ladder through children prostitution." I said in utter disgust. I'm going to enjoy killing him.
"I'm going upstairs to do some more research this bastard." I said, spinning around on my heels, and went to my kitchen table where my computer is...
