Mark felt at peace, letting the soft gentle breeze hit his face. He closed his eyes, the sound of laughter and music filling his ears. He smiled.

When he opened his eyes, he looked to Donghyuck. The sun was setting, and the golden light was hitting the boys face, making him glow. He took a mental picture, wanting to remember this sight. How pretty and content he looked.

"Stop staring before I push you off this ride." Donghyuck said, interrupting his thoughts. Mark flushes, quickly looking away.

Donghyuck chuckles softly.

It gets quiet, as they observe the scenery in front of them. The smell of Cotten candy and mini donuts was comforting. The sound of people laughing and music coming from different rides was nice. The wind and sun made them happy.

It was nice.

Mark was happy.

Donghyuck was happy.

The ride came to a stop. They were still stuck at the top, waiting for the other riders to get off one by one. But Mark didn't mind, he felt at great up there.

"Mark," Donghyuck said softly. Mark hummed out a reply, keeping his gaze on the city in front of them. "Thanks for hanging out with me today. I had fun." The boy smiled, looking to Mark.

Mark ignored the way his heart felt like it was about to jump out of his chest.

"So did I. Let's do this more often, I like hanging out with you." Mark said, smiling back. He watched the way Donghyuck's smile grew bigger, which sent Mark into a daze. He didn't mean to, but his eyes flickered to the boys lips, how soft and pink they looked.

"It's our turn..." Donghyuck's voice pipped up. Mark shook out of his thoughts, looking around slowly, noticing they were at the bottom of the ride, the operator waiting for them to get off with an exhausted expression.

Mark nodded.

They both got off. It was quiet as they began to walk towards the exit. Mark didn't know what kind of silence it was... awkward? Comfortable? Angry? Donghyuck didn't show any signs of any of those. Or maybe Mark just wasn't good at reading body language. But either way, he felt like something was off.

They walked to the bus stop. Donghyuck still didn't say anything, nor did he even spare Mark a glance. Just an odd walk to the bus stop, that was crowded with a bunch of middle schoolers also waiting for the bus.

Mark kept his distance while they stood there. He was glad that there was middle school boys yelling to fill in the silent void. Because with how quiet the younger was being, he felt like he was about to burst with questions.

It didn't take long for the bus to come. They boarded, and quickly found a seat.

The bus was pretty quiet. Normally, Mark would've loved it. Would've sighed in relief, and watch passing buildings in the window. But right now, he wasn't so sure. He risked a glance to Donghyuck, who was staring out the window.

Was Mark the only one who felt the awkwardness? He stared at the boy with a growing frown.

The ride was only 10 minutes. Just a short, 10 minutes to Donghyuck's stop. But to Mark, it felt like an entire hour. He wasn't sure if he was supposed to be glad, or disappointed.

Donghyuck's stop was next. But the younger still hasn't spared him a glance, or said a single word to him since they got off the Ferris wheel. Mark was confused.

"Hey," Mark starts softly. "Are you okay?" He asks, staring at Donghyuck with wide eyes. The latter turned his head to Mark, didn't say anything for 3 seconds, before nodding.

Mark wasn't convinced.

The bus came to a stop, several people making their way to the exit. Mark didn't want the younger to leave, not when they still haven't fixed this weird tense. He was still confused and had too many questions at the tip of his tongue.

"Mark, hurry up and move. I need to get off." Donghyuck said.

Mark looks around the bus, noticing how empty it was getting. The crowd of people forming a line by the door, was getting shorter, meaning the bus would leave soon.

Mark shakes his head, turning back to the younger. "Come with me." He said with a small smile.

He didn't know where exactly he wanted to take him, he didn't have much money, he couldn't just take him back to Yukhei's place. But he knew one thing, he didn't want their time to be over just yet.

Donghyuck sighs softly. "Mark- I need to go back home."

Mark pouts. "Can't you just stay with me? I don't want to be sad and alone again." He knew, once he got back to Yukhei's place, all his bottled up feelings would soon burst and he'll smoke half the pack of his cigarettes as he self loathes.

Donghyuck glances to the line of people, thinks for a few seconds, before sighing. "Fine. But buy me some snacks." Donghyuck says through a small growing smile.

Mark's heart races in circles, buzzing with excitement as he nods, agreeing to buy all the snacks Donghyuck wants.
