a/n: Finally the backstory folks, enjoy~
They got to Mapo in record time, Yoongi speeding the entire way there. Hoseok's mind white static as he blankly stared out the car window.
"He's okay, they said he was only attacked—" Yoongi tried to comfort Hoseok, even grabbing Hobi's hand at one point, but Hoseok couldn't focus on that. His mind was filled with Seokjin, Seokjin Seokjin Seokjin, hyung, why did it have to be you?
Jimin ran up to him the second Hoseok stepped shakily out of the car, wrapping Hobi in a vice grip. There were visible tear tracks down Jimin's cheeks. It broke Hoseok out of his trance. He reached up to wipe away the tears. Jimin tried to smile, but it wobbled, and he ended up crying harder burying his face in Hobi's shoulder.
Yoongi stepped past the two, placing a comforting hand at the small of Hoseok's back in passing before going to join his teammates near the ambulance. A figure sat huddled at the end of the ambulance. Seokjin.
Jimin eventually pulled away, wiping hastily at his tears and quickly lead Hobi over to join the rest. Seokjin looked the most rattled Hoseok had ever seen him. Usually the elder was bursting with confidence no matter what he did. Teasing smirks and cracking jokes every chance he got. This Seokjin was only a shell of the man he knew. It scared Hobi to see him so distraught, his eyes staring blankly at nothing.
Hoseok immediately wrapped Seokjin in a hug, "Hyung—" was all he managed to whisper out. Seokjin hugged back with little strength.
Hobi noticed a deep gash near the temple of Seokjin's normally flawless face. It wasn't nearly as severe as the victims' wounds he had seen at the police station, not as bad as Jungkook's long gash across his face, not as precise, but it didn't do anything to calm his nerves.
"What—what happened, hyung?" Hoseok asked gently, not wanting to force the elder to relive the incident if he didn't want to. Seokjin looked at him without really looking at him. It was a void look, alien upon Seokjin's usually warm face.
"I was walking back to the apartment. I went out to get food since we were both too tired to cook tonight. We didn't have any ingredients anyways. I was almost back when—the temperature dropped. It's already cold outside, I know, but—it was freezing. That's usually when I—" Seokjin stopped, cleared his throat as his eyes darted to the cops near him before continuing, "Someone slammed into me. He came out of nowhere."
Hoseok knew about Seokjin's sixth sense. The elder claimed that he could feel things that others usually could not. Whether it be spirits or energy, Hoseok wasn't too sure. He'd never questioned it much, just pegging it to Seokjin's eccentric personality. But perhaps the elder really did have the ability. Hoseok was starting to believe a lot more recently, seeing a ghost with your own two eyes really opens your mind to possibilities.
"I went down—I guess I hit my face on something," Seokjin gestured to the cut near his temple. "I tried to fight back, but whoever it was, was really strong, and their grip was—" Seokjin trailed off, but Hobi could have sworn he heard the words, "ice cold" leave his mouth. "He pulled out a—" Seokjin visibly gulped, "A knife, and I screamed."
"How did you get away?" Namjoon asked carefully.
Seokjin glanced over at the man, "I'm not sure. He must have seen—something—because he stopped, and the next thing I knew, Jimin was with me."
"I came down to see if Seokjin hyung was coming back yet, because he wasn't answering his phone. And I saw him—on the ground—I was so s—scared hyung." Jimin clung to Seokjin's arm like a life line. "I should have gone with you—" He chastised himself, not for the first time.
