Filipinos have a unique way of helping others. We are known for our "Bayanihan" characteristics and it is noticeable to many places ever since. Filipinos have a creative way to share goodness and kindness.

Helping one another makes everyone strengthen their character towards other people. It also gives an impression that helping is a way of indirectly branding someone's image or making an impact and making it look great.

In the midst of pandemic, Filipinos' resilience to destructive viruses is really exemplary. As coronavirus arises, many places put lock downs and what we call community quarantines. Labeled as such gives anxiety to many Filipinos. The need to survive and to live accordingly are two main reasons why people became unappreciative and appreciative.

The Community Pantry came to boom. What is it about? Taken from the context of "Get according to your need, and Give according to what you have." The principle is simple and yet many became abusive.

Way back in the '80's era to '90's era, some group of people put up their own community pantries. Their main goal is to help people, especially food. During the Marcos regime, they had their own school pantry, because they gave food to students and in some parts of the Philippines, they randomly gave assistance to people.

However, after their administration, it stopped. Until this pandemic came and the UP Maginhawa started it again. The purpose was solely to help but eventually became an issue due to alleged involvement to communist groups.

The simple goal of helping became red taggings and the likes. But Philippine National Police or PNP said, "they support community pantries and they do not profile people nor do red tagging."

In the statement given by our PNP, they said, "they are supporting the community pantry and to continue helping our fellowmen, they are organizing a "Barangayanihan".

What is a Barangayanihan? This is likely close to community pantry but our PNP will be setting this up per barangay, whereas, people from the certain barangay wont go far to get food. The PNP in their own little way, they bring the needs at their footsteps.
