Little Red Riding Hood (Modernize version with a twist)

Short Story

   Once upon a time, in a bustling city, in a certain apartment complex, their live a girl who is charming and likes to wear something red. Hence, the nickname Red. She is a friendly and petite girl.

   One day, Red’s phone is ringing, and the caller is her mother. The mother said “ Red, my child, I have bad news, your grandmother is extremely ill. She needs someone who needs to take care of her. So please, take care of your grandmother. I will immediately send the medicine and some money for the two of you to get by everyday. Red, this is a reminder, don’t get involve on suspicious person. There are a lot of “wolf person” in this world. They are vicious and dangerous, they wont hesitate to hurt innocent people even without reason”. Red responded “ okay mother, I will take care of myself and grandmother”.

Red immediately set out to go to her grandmother, who lived at the outskirt of the city. On the way there, when Red is riding a bus, the person seating beside her is so chatty. He kept asking questions to Red like “Where are you going” and such. Since the girl is friendly she responded. When the person knows Red’s situation, he immediately suggested to the girl to buy some flowers in the flower shop near the station, because by giving flowers you are wishing for the sick person to have a speedy recovery. Red responded with a bright expression “Thank you”. After getting off in the bus. Red immediately went to the nearby flower shop. Unbeknown to her, the man is smiling sinisterly.

The man went to the place where Red’s grandmother is living. Unfortunately, for the man, the path to go there is hard and the place doesn’t have a lot of people living. There are a lot of intersections of road. It feel like a maze for him, since he is not living there and night time is nearing. So, he randomly chooses a path. He’s a lucky man, he arrive on his destination. A large house was at the end of the path.

   When he was about to enter the gate a voice stop him. “What are you doing in here? Did you follow me? Why would you do that?” Red ask. The man, turn to face the girl. He have a very smug look with his sinister smile he answered. “I’m attracted to you at first sight. Red looks very attractive to you. I wonder if bathing in your own blood looks good on you. I’m just here to see blood scattered everywhere. My victim for this day would be you and your grandmother”. Red is so shock and she freezes. The man get something from his pocket, its a knife. He swing his knife towards the neck of Red. Unfortunately for the man, Red is faster, she got  hold of a small sharp knife from her shorts and slice thru the neck of the man. Blood has been splattered. The man is so shock on the ground losing blood at a fast rate. Red look down and said to the man “ I thought you’re a good person. You look so innocent, I should really not judge a person from there appearance alone. You look so shock. You didn’t expect that this would happen to you. Fine, since you don’t a have a long time to live. I will tell you a bit of my self. Despite with my small stature I’m already 25 years old and I’m a soldier. That’s why I know how to fight, So Good bye and rest in peace.”

   The man didn’t expect that small innocent looking girl is another wolf in a sheep’s clothing. Red buried the man somewhere away, and lay the flowers she bought on the mans grave. She hurriedly went to her grandmother. The grandmother ask “why there are splatter of blood to you”. Red just answered, “I have stumbled and killed a wolf. Don’t worry grandma it won’t hurt us now.”

Almost a week have past, Red’s grandmother have recovered and Red was now back in the city. When she was passing by a newspaper stand, she have read the headlines. “Serial killer’s body found in the outskirt of the city” Red just blankly stare at the newspaper and walk away like nothing happened.
