HAISHA: THE BRIGHT LIGHT

Epilogue

Haisha is not only in our Milky Way galaxy but also in the same solar system as the Earth. However, Haisha has its own moon which shines much brighter than the Earth moon does.

It has been said that once upon a time the people from Haisha came from Venus before Venus warmed to the extend that it was unlivable. Many of the inhabitants of Venus moved to Haisha and many of them moved to Earth. Inhabitants of Venus were very technologically advanced and were able to communicate and travel throughout the solar system. But since it is closer to the sun than the Earth and Haisha, it was unable to sustain life after the sun's heat dried up all the water causing the surface of the planet to burn. The inhabitants on Venus realized this was happening and were able to transport all the Venusians to the other two liveable planets. It has been said that Venus is a sister planet to earth, but actually Haisha is the true sister planet and exists in close proximity to the Earth in a protected pocket of the solar system. It is not visible from Earth along with the other planets that can be seen throughout the solar system. However from Haisha the other planets can all be seen. This is why Earth did not know of Haisha but Haisha knew of the Earth.   Like Venus, Haishians were very technologically advanced.  Then it happened.

Jayou was carrying firewood to his cabin in preparation for an evening meal. Maeol was by his side also carrying firewood. Their fueme,  an animal much like an earthly dog, walked behind them. They all saw the bright light, the flash that momentarily left them blind. They fell to the ground, wood scattering.

Huddled closely together, Jayou and Maeol trembled with eyes tightly shut, afraid to open. They heard Reol their fueme moan, and got the courage to open their eyes. All was quiet now, and Jayou and Maeol looked at each in silence then slowly rose to have a look around. It seemed that not much had changed. There had been no rumble, no shaking of the land. They both wiped dirt off their clothing and proceeded to pick up the sticks of wood.

They continued to move along towards their home. There was nothing to speak about as they were only relieved that they were still living. Reol tagged along behind them as usual, but he was sniffing the air and his fueme sense told him that something had changed. He hoped his master and mistress would realize that soon.

But what Jayou and Maeol realized was that on the evening of the event they no longer needed to build a fire for warmth. They built one instead outside and cooked their evening meal under the stars that were still shining as brightly as before.

The breeze that blew through their hair and across their faces was extra warm and caressed their skin with a softness they had not felt before. Reol also felt the warm breeze, but he was wary of it. Something had happened this afternoon, something his Haishaians did not seem to recognize yet. But he was sure that they would, given time.

Haisha is smaller than earth and what had just happened to the planet was a piece of their sun had broken off and landed on Haisha. Unbeknownst to Jayou and Maeol it changed Haisha, tilting it off its axes and creating a dark side and a tropical side.

The next day when Jayou and Maeol rose, they visited the town market to pick up vegetables and fruit. They were astonished to see so few people at the market square. After they had purchased their produce, they noticed their nearest neighbours, Sauel and her husband Peole were milling about picking up staples for the week. Maeol noticed how Sauel looked up at Peole and smiled and laughed whenever he was talking. She wished that Jayou would look at her that way. He used to, but now he seemed preoccupied with life other than her.

"Sauel," Maeol called to her friend, "the market is almost empty today, lots of opportunity to get the best bargains first."

Sauel smiled back at her. "I know. I wonder where everyone is. I was just mentioning that to Peole. Did you see the big flash last night?"
