Boom......CRACKThunder clapped overhead two teenage boys in love.
Oikawa rested his head on his former best friend's shoulder, tears streaming from his eyes. Iwaizumi had his arms laying limp at his sides.
"Iwaizumi......can you please respond?"
The silence grew even thicker.
"I-Iwa-chan c'mon and say something....." Oikawa desperately pleaded. All he wanted in this moment was an answer. An answer to statement:
I love you
With every passing moment, the air grew heavier and the storm above raged louder. Oikawa dug his fists further into his old friend's sculpted chest.
"I can't. I just.......can't, Oikawa." Iwaizumi mumbled under his breath. He turned his head away in shame after finishing his sentence.
The final straw had been snapped and Oikawa broke out in full sobs and heaves. His breath quickened and words were unable to escape his lips.
What was one supposed to do when their love, best friend, and sole childhood friend reject them?
The only thing that came to mind was collapsing to the ground and crying one's heart out.
And he did just that.
Oikawa fell to the ground and tugged lightly on Iwaizumi's jeans. His shaking fingers outlined the different tatters and rips along the fabric.
This may be the very last time I see Iwa-chan
As this thought surfaced, it gave Oikawa enough courage to ask one final question:
"Why?"
The rain felt cool on his neck as the droplets ran down.
As an angel from above, Iwaizumi spoke up;
"I don't know if you really love me. How am I supposed to tell when you're always surrounded by people who want to take my place? It hurts to feel like I'm not good enough for you Tooru......"
Oikawa's breath hitched.
Not good enough? He's the only thing that's kept me grounded all these years.
NOW TOORU TELL HIM HOW YOU REALLY FEEL
.
.
.
"But you're more than enough for me Hajime! You have always been there for me and no one could ever erase those memories. I want to be with you forever, as two people in love!"
Huff huff
Ragged pants left Oikawa's mouth in exhaustion. All the cards were laid. The only thing the college setter could do now was wait once again for a reply.
Iwaizumi stood over Oikawa, face exploded in red and tears threatening to spill.
At that moment, his knees gave in and Iwaizumi too fell to the hard concrete. The lights of Oikawa's apartment were still lit from when the pair played video games an hour ago.
The rain continued to pour down on them. But thunder clouds parted just enough to shine the delicate moonlight on Oikawa's soft and puffy complexion. His eyes were bloodshot, but his skin shone beautifully. Iwaizumi would be lying if this wasn't the most amazing sight he had seen.
Hesitantly, he reached to cup his setter's tear stained face. The face of the boy who captures the heart of all.
And Iwaizumi could finally be the one to claim him.
