It was a rainy, Saturday afternoon outside of a small house not far off of the outskirts of New York City. There were boxes scattered everywhere, filled to the brim with valuables. Amy and Sydny were among all the heavy, valuable boxes. Sydny, Amy's mother and a skinny blonde haired lady, was packing things with much care making sure not to break anything even if the stuff was really unbreakable. But Amy, a fifteen year old girl with straight black hair and pretty green eyes, was sitting by her bedroom window looking outside at the beautiful garden Amy and her mom planted three months ago. When did the good times fade away? was the question Amy had on her mind ever since her dad left. Only Sydney knows exactly what happened to him. All Amy and the rest of her family know is that he left and never came back.
"Amy please pack your stuff." Sydny said from the room next door, still packing carefully. Amy stayed still and silent. Why does she always do this to me! I mean, it's not like she's the one being tossed around unwillingly. As if mom even cared anyway. Amy felt a tear slowly roll down her cheek. She didn't bother to wipe it away until Amy heard her mom walking up to her. Amy quickly turned away hoping her mother would go away. Come to tease me I guess.
"Look Amy I know it's hard moving from place to place twenty-four seven but this time we are going to stay. I've heard good reports about this place and I really think you're going to lo..."
"Mom I don't want to move! And I dont care about some dumb reports about a place where I dont know anyone! You think you know best but you really do not so just leave me alone! I need peace." Amy started to walk away and looked back to see her mother about to cry. Amy instantly regretted yelling. She really didn't mean to upset her mother. All Amy wanted to do was get her point across.
"Mom I didn't mean to upset you. I'm sorry so please forgive me."
"It's okay. I know you have been through so much with moving and being lonely and..." Sdyny looked down at the thought of it. The thought of him. Sdyny knew Amy would be devastated if she found out.
"Mom? Are you okay?"
"Yeah. Hey, how about we get the ice-cream here one last time?"
"Okay. Yea lets go!"
* * * * * * *
"Yes! This is going to be amazing!" Amy shouted as she grabbed her mint chocolate-chip ice-cream. Amy was happy to be eating ice-cream at New York one last time with her mom. Amy was happy to know she wasn't alone. Not the only one mourning for dad. He has been there since Amy was born. Why just up and leave?
"Are you ready mom? I wanna see the new house." Amy's ice-cream was gone in just two minutes!
"Done already? Okay hold on." Sydny almost laughed. Amy was always quick with her ice-cream. She was called "Ice-Cream Speedster" for it.
"Okay Ice-Cream Speedster, let's go finish packing so we can go to our new home." Sydny said as she finished her ice-cream and walked with Amy to the car. Sydny took Amy to the car and got in the driver's seat. As Amy went on the passenger side she heard a low growl. Amy quickly turned around and saw two glowing eyes under a couple trash cans.
"Hello? Who's there? Answer me!" Amy tried to yell but it sounded more like a squeak. The growl got louder and louder. And out of nowhere the creature leaped at Amy. Amy thought she would be a goner until a small animal with big ears and a fluffy tail attacked the creature. Amy didn't know what to do. It all happened so fast. Amy turned her head to look at the small creature that had saved her. It looked like a small species of fox with the biggest ears Amy had ever seen. She knelt down to pet the creature. It's fur was like silk. Amy looked down at the animal the fox had attacked. It was a raccoon with rabies. Wow I could have had a trip to the hospital.
