I sat in my apartment with Serenity, looking at her sleep peacefully in my arms. Its been about a month and two days since me and August broke up. My emotions were still all over the place, thinking about the perfect family we coulda had. And every time I looked at Serenity small but plump pink lips, I missed August even more. But I knew that going with August again was only gonna cause me another heartbreak.

I placed Serenity in her crib and started to get undressed to go in the shower before Serenity woke up again. As soon as I stepped inside my doorbell rang.

"Fuck," I said, frustrated. I got out and wrapped a towel around my body.

I opened the door to see August.

"Sup?" He gave me a head nod as he usually did.

"Hey."

"Am I interrupting something?" He asked, raising an eyebrow.

"My shower," I replied, bluntly.

"Oh, my fault. I just came to get Cici."

"One second," I walked off and started getting her ready and then I packed her bags, bringing her back out to August.

"Umm, make sure she gets her medicine. She caught a cold," I instructed him. He nodded, taking her from.

"Iight," He said, strapping her bag around his shoulder. I was about to close the door when he stopped it. "Hold up, Kay."

"What?"

"I'm having a show next week and I really want you to come through," He said, pulling out a backstage ticket.

"I don't think so, August-"

"Look, just think about it," He said, forcing the ticket into my hand. I sighed, watching him walk off into his car with Serenity. Then I walked back inside to continue my shower.

After I got dressed and sprayed and lotioned myself, I got my shades and headed to the studio to get to work again. It's been a while and I
figured since August had Serenity, it would be best to go.

I walked in and Carlie nearly tackled me.

"Kalissa! My gorgeous mommy!" She grinned, pecking of my cheeks. "I missed you."

"I missed you too, Car," I smiled.

"How's the baby and hubby?"

"Well Serenity is health and beautiful but me and August aren't together," I told her. She raised her eyebrow.

"That's funny...August just.." She trailed off, placing a hand on her hip.

"Just what?"

"Nothing, darling. Nothing at all. Now come on and get changed, lets shoot some photos while you still have your pregnancy glow."

After work, I stopped by Vette's house with a box of pizza and decided to chill with her for a little bit.

"Hey, babes," She pecked my cheek.

I smiled. "Hey, girl, I missed you."

"I missed yo Hollywood ass too," She said grabbing a slice of pizza. "Where's goddaughter?"

"With her daddy," I rolled my eyes, grabbing a slice too.

"Umph, too bad Serenity got a fuck boy for a papi. I knew you shoulda just went with Trey's bitch ass. He was such a nice young lady."

I chuckled, sitting on her couch. "Yeah, right?"

She joined me, clicking on her tv. "What did fuck boy say when he came to get Cici?"

I sighed, pulling out the ticket. "He wanted me to come to some show he's having next week."

"Show? Why?"

"I don't know but I think he's up to something. I mentioned it to Car and Chandra and they been acting suspicious."

"Hmmm, what you think it could be?"

"Maybe a plan to get us back together. But I am not bothering with his games. Me and August will never be together again. Or at least for a long time."

"I know thats right. If you want me to talk to his skinny ass, I'll let his ass know straight up. You know my mouth always got diarrhea. Let him try something with me."

I laughed. "I got this, Vette. But thank you."

She nodded, continuing to watch the tv as I silently agree it would be best to tell August in person at his show that we were through.

I arrived at August's show early with Chandra and we went to the bar to get a drink.

"You really are the MVP for coming, Kay," She said, sipping her beer. "With August's ass, I wouldn't even bother getting out of bed."

I nodded. "I was thinking about it but that would be childish. Besides I gotta get some closure on all this and move on."

We walked to the seating section, sitting right in the front row, directly in the middle, where August placed us and containing chatting until the lights dimmed and August came out.

"Yooo Atlanta!" He yelled and all the girls went crazy. "Wassup y'all?"

He walked on the stage, making eye contact with me.

"Y'all ready to do this?" He asked, raising his hand up. The crowd cheered again. "Cool, but uh before we start I gotta say some real shit that's been on my mind."

He fixed his bucket hat and shades, pulling up a stool to sit on.

"Y'all...I made a big mistake. And I think about it every second of the day and night. I mistreated someone I care about and love a lot. I mean this person is my soul," He said with honesty in his voice. I sighed, running a hand over my face. "She's my best friend, my first love, my baby's mama, my ride or die, my babeh, my wifey and allat. And I still did some fucked up shit to her, even after she was faithful to me and she gave me all her heart."

He stood up, coming toward me. My heart raced.

"Kalissa, com'ere," He said, reaching his hand out. I shook my head no, hiding my face until I felt him pick me up and bring me onstage to sit on the stool.

"Kay," He continued. "I love you and you only one of I wanna be with. And I'm gonna change to be a better man for you and Serenity. I'm starting with this."

He pulled out a box and popped it open, revealing a 16 carat ring. I gasped.

"Kay will you marry me?" He basically begged. Everyone was screaming now, chanting "say yes."

I looked around in confusion and began to cry. "August...I-I can't marry you."

He looked shocked and heartbroken as he stared up at me. I slowly got up and walked off the stage and out the stadium.
