"Narnia is dangerous though," I project to the class.
"Only because of the prairie dogs," Nathan replies and everyone laughs. I try to keep my giggles in as I think up the next line.
"Prairie dogs are not important at the moment!" I come back, acting flustered.
"Quite frankly they are, considering there's a few rabid ones right there!" he points to the non-existent prairie dogs and acts scared by running and hiding behind me.
"Really, rabid prairie dogs?" I taunt him as I hear giggles from the class.
"Sick, crazed, rabies-induced prairie dogs!" he uses his hands to imitate chomping on my shoulder.
"Totally, because that sounds reasonable," I struggle to hold back my laughter and roll my eyes, appearing bored.
"Ugh, you're so frustrating!" he crosses his arms.
"Very," I wink and he smirks back at me, sending my cheeks to a bright red. The class bursts into a fit of chuckling and I praise myself on the inside, knowing I did well.
"Alright, that's it! Good job Maci and Nathan, you may take a seat now," Ms. Karen stands up from her seat with the other students and gives us both 'knuckles'. We have a pretty cool teacher.
So what exactly just happened? An exciting improv. game called The Alphabet Game. See, it consists of two people that must improvise a conversation back and forth to eachother in a situation the class gives to them. The trick is that every sentence they say must begin with a letter of the alphabet, in order. It's tricky at first but after playing it for a while, you get the hang of it.
I'm a theater kid, a thespian, a drama nerd. That's me. I love acting. But I'm also the shy girl who sits alone. So that episode of 'The Alphabet Game' you just read of, was a big step for me. And I just so happened to get partnered with Nathan; The most attractive guy in my entire theatre class, and most definitely the school. Well, in my eyes that is. He's pretty unknown, and to me, that's a good thing.
"Alright, that concludes our class today," Ms. Karen tells us in a rather amusing British accent. "May your day be the best it can be and enjoy every minute of it!"
"I will Ms. Karen!" yelled someone as we shuffled around, preparing to leave. I laughed to myself quietly.
The bell rings and I grab my Starbucks from the small table near the door, where I left it at the beginning of class. I take a small sip, preparing for cold tea but finding it to still be warm. I smile, grab my phone and start walking out when I run into something hard. Suddenly, a warm, wet feeling trickles down my neck and I stand there in shock of what just happened.
I slowly move my head up to find Nathan staring down at me with an amused expression on his face, his sweater now covered in my stupid tea. I stand, jaw dropped open, trying to come up with the words to say.
"Someone's in a rush," he chuckles and tries to brush off some of the tea but only ending up failing and spreading it even more.
"I-I-I am so sorry! I wasn't even paying attention, it was a total accident! I'm so embarassed ri-" he places a finger on my lips to shut me up, being successful.
"It's okay, really," he laughs at my nervousness.
"D-do you need help...?" I stutter, avoiding his beautiful blue eyes. "With your sweater I mean?"
"Naw, I never really like it anyway," he says as he picks at it. "But you should probably get to class or you're gonna be late."
"Crap, you're right," I realize that I have about a minute until class starts.
"Do you have anything to change into?" he asks, poking my stomach. I squirm, shocked by the random action.
"Uh, yeah, I uh have something in my locker I believe," I begin to slowly leave, apologizing once again.
"No worries, I'll clean it up. My class is right there," he points to a door at my right and I recognize it as some band room. Weird, I didn't know he was in band. But heck, we never talk so why would I know any of his classes?
"Thank you so much, I'll see you tomorrow in class..." I give a small wave and he nods at me, a genuine smile on his perfect face.
"You too, Maci," I hear him say as I walk away. I smile to myself at how he used my name.
I walk away, replaying what had just happened when I heard the bell. Picking up my pace, I make it into my second period without anyone noticing.
'Talk about an eventful morning,' I think to myself as I take my seat in Spanish.
