You sighed once the hot water of the bath hit your skin. The water washed away the tears and dirt that comforted you earlier.
Another day of reading to Taehyung had vanished, and the day of the original wedding was growing near. You still had yet to figure out what to do. The wedding was in two days, and everyone in the estate was rushing to get things decorated. You were to leave with Taehyung the night before the ceremony, but the guilt began to eat at you.
The faint sound of the piano drifted toward your chamber door, and you stared emotionlessly at the wall in front of you. You refused to meet your reflection that was staring back.
"Rough night?" A soft voice came from the doorway.
You gasped when you noticed Jimin peeking his head into the room. He waved a hand in the air when he pushed his way inside.
"Believe me, you have nothing I haven't seen before."
You rolled your eyes as he sat on a stool beside the tub. His dark brown eyes twinkled in mischief, and a knowing smile graced his charming face.
"You can say that," you muttered.
Jimin snorted. "Must be difficult to be in love with someone you can't have."
Your jaw tensed, and your eyes widened in fear. You knew Jimin would find out eventually but not as quickly. Had the two of you been that obvious?
Your cousin shook his head as if he read your mind. "Relax. I'm just a professional when it comes to sensing sexual tension," he chuckled. "The way he looks at you, on the other hand, gives his thoughts away."
You sighed heavily and sank deeper into the bathtub. The water rippled as you shifted, and the soap bubbles rubbed against the porcelain sides.
"He wants me to marry him instead."
Jimin's eyes bulged out of their sockets in surprise, and his hands flew to cover his mouth. The corners of his lips turned upward, trying to hide a grin. He tapped his shoes on the floor in excitement.
You couldn't help but look just as shocked at his reaction. Did he not understand the importance of such a thing? He surely hadn't forgotten you were to marry Sir Jeon in two nights' time.
"I'm engaged to Jungkook. If I marry Taehyung, my family can lose everything they had worked so hard to earn."
He brought his hands away from his mouth, but he still appeared amused by your anxiety. He didn't seem concerned at all by the situation. Though Jimin was known to be a free spirit, you would have thought he would be the one to knock sense into you.
"Why should that be a problem? Your family has done nothing for you," he replied with a softened gaze. "You put yourself through school once your father found out you weren't willing to take his place. If it hadn't been for Namjoon and me, you would have stayed in this boring house."
