"Everly, are you ready yet?" called out a sickly sweet voice from the other side of my door.
"nearly-" I let out a breath
"no, We're going to be late if we don't leave-" I heard the doorknob rattle. "is this locked?! there aren't even locks on these doors?.. Everly!"
Stupid muggles. always trying to invade my privacy.
"I'm sure it's just jammed" I mumbled in a fake voice.
as I made my way over to the tall mahogany door I could notice the doorknob still jerking in motions of panic."alohomora" I whispered.
the wooden door swung open to reveal a tall slim women, she had thin sandy coloured hair wrapped neatly around the back of her head, held together with 2 simple needles. A pair of frameless rectangle glasses rested awkwardly on the bridge of her pointed nose magnifying her damp green eyes.
she held a clipboard protectively around her chest as if I was going to snatch it away.
like i could be bothered
"you're supposed to be at kings cross in 15 minutes!" the lady gasped, clearly trying to stay calm. Her impossibly nice tone weakening with each word.
"it's already complicated enough with you suddenly transferring schools during your 5th year"
"alright alright, I'm ready just let me carry my trunk downstairs and we can leave" I said distantly, my back turned to the women to avoid her disappointed glare I knew all too well.
With a short sigh she escorted herself out not even bothering to shut the door behind her.
The day I can finally leave this retched orphanage will be the best day of my short-lived unimportant life I thought to myself with a humourless laugh. But until then I'll have to survive the next 2 summers of this boring magic-less lifestyle.
Tom, my so called brother had left earlier that summer having turned 18, without even a look in my direction. not that I expected anything more. During the 15 years we've been stuck together in this hell hole he's never acknowledged me for anything more than an irrelevant child.
At least this summer I was able to use magic without being detected by the ministry or being expelled, as technically I belonged to no school. having recently been expelled from Koldovstoretz Wizarding school in Russia.
Now I would be transferring to Hogwarts, where Tom had recently graduated. It would be interesting to find out more about him and what he's actually like but that wasn't my biggest concern at the moment for I was joining during my 5th year meaning I would have to adapt to the new lifestyle quickly and while drawing the least attention to myself as possible.
Of course the muggle woman waiting downstairs knew nothing of this, for all that she knew I had simply been expelled from my 'boarding school' down south for starting multiple fights with my classmates and was now to be transferred to a grammar school in Scotland for the rest of my school years.
I assumed the ministry took care of any speculations of my real whereabouts, but i don't care enough to find out.

dragging my overflowing leather trunk down the wooden stairs ignoring the loud bangs and creaks I seemed to be creating the lady from earlier was glancing at a small silver watch on her bony wrist when she noticed me
"finally!" she croaked "now, let's hope you can make it the next few years at this school before you get expelled.. eh?" her green eyes narrowing as she looked me up and down. "no more fighting"
I scoffed. this arrogant women didn't know half of it.
I strolled past her leaving my trunk in the hallway. she could deal with that.
The familiar long black car was parked just outside the gates. I had to pull 3 times before the rusty door decided to give way and open big enough for me to scramble my way inside, the old leather reeked of dust and the small ancient man in the drivers seat ignored me, though he looked so old he was most likely death.
moments later the damp eyed lady made her way into the car, unfortunately not having the same problems I did and opening the door with ease and perching herself in the passenger seat like a small bird.
i heard a loud rumble as the car rolled uncomfortably down the cobblestone road, shooting the tall grimly lit stone structure a satisfied glance, a place which I wouldn't see for another 10 months.
"wools orphanage" was portrayed in cold rusting metal on the small archway, you almost wouldn't notice it unless you looked for it.
I for one would never understand why anyone would actually want to look for a place so incredible horrible and easily influenced as wools in the first place but whatever.
annoyed, I pushed all these dark thoughts out of my mind. deciding this place didn't deserve to rot my mind anymore, especially if i wasn't going to be there. Before I knew it i was sitting up eagerly watching the structure get smaller and smaller until it was all but a small grey blur in the corner of my eye.
