This is the first time I have ever written a book and put it on wattpad so please excuse any bad grammar, misspelled words, or wrong punctuation. I hope you all enjoy <3
I woke up to a pounding pain in my head. I sat up and looked around me. I was in a cage looking thing, surrounded by a bunch of boxes, clothing, and things that look like gear. Before I had time to process what was happening I heard a soft rumbling, the box started to move up, I could feel the air hitting me in the face. I could see a bit of light, I hid behind a big box.
"A greenies coming" I heard a voice said, the voice had a accent and sounded far away
I was clinging behind the big box, I couldn't quite see anything but I refused to move. I didn't know where I was, where I was going, or who was up there. I knew I didn't have much time.
Just run, I thought. Run until you've lost them and figure it out from there. I felt the box stop.
"Well, it doesn't look like there is anybody here" said a boy
I was too far behind the box to see what he looked like.
"Maybe they just sent extra supplies. I mean look at the time, greenies come early and the doors are closing in like 5 minutes." said another guy
"It's just strange, greenies have never been this late and we've never gotten extra supplies before" said another voice
Jeez, it sounded like guys. I debated running now or later. That's when I paid attention.
"Well what should we do?" a guy asked
"We should just get the gear and forget about it" another guy replied
"No what if it's dangerous" a different guy said
That's when I heard more arguing, by the sounds of it there had to be a minimum of 20 guys up there. I hadn't heard a girl's voice, this makes everything that much harder. I don't know how fast I can run and if it's all guys I wouldn't like my chances. Maybe I should wait it out. I was starting to panic. The people up there were still fighting. Impulsively I rose, I walked to go behind a different box, but for some reason I didn't realize there was a bottle right there. I knocked it over. I could hear the people go silent.
"Crap" I whispered to myself.
"I'm going down" some guy said
I heard the guy jump down.I heard the guy start to walk around, then he started walking in my direction. I tried to calm myself down, just as I was about to run the guy found me.
"What. The. Shuck" he said
"What's wrong Ben?" A guy asked
"It's a, it's a girl" the guy named Ben replied in disbelief still looking at me
I heard the boys go silent again.
"Stop shucking with us" another guy said
"I'm not" Ben said
"Bring her up" some guy said
"I'm not good with girls" Ben replied "or at least I don't think I am"
"Ughh move" the guy with the accent said
I heard him jump in. He had sandy blonde hair and brown doe eyes. He walked over to Ben, they had a hushed conversation, to quiet for me to hear. I took that opportunity to move boxes. I know it was dumb, obviously they will still find me I'm in a literally cage but it gave me a bit of comfort. Unfortunately the guy with the accent found me surprisingly quickly.
"Hi" he said
"If you come any closer I can promise you, that you will come back up without a eye" I replied breathing hard, I was filled with fear
"Noted" he said laughing "My name is Newt and I am here to help you"
"Like hell you are" I replied
"You must be fun at parties" he grunted "Well I do like my eye but I also need you to get out before the box goes back down"
"And why would I do that" I snarled
"Because if you don't you will be cut up into little pieces by the blades on the side of the box" he said simply
I looked to my side, I saw a ton of little blades. How had I not noticed that before.
"So you coming?" he asked
"It doesn't look like I have another choice does it" I grumbled
"Nope" he replied
He offered me his hand, I shoved it away and moved from behind my box. I saw what looked like 20 or more boys staring right back at me. So I was right, I didn't see any girls. It looked like the sun was setting. Before I got out of the box I looked around. I noticed that we were surrounded by walls, there was one little opening. I knew what I had to do. I got out of the box gracefully and before anyone could say anything I took off running towards the opening in between the walls.
"We got a runner" the guys said laughing but there's laugh suddenly stopped when they realised I was running straight for the opening
"Minho get her" the guy named Newt said
I didn't bother looking back, I ran as fast as I could. I heard a low rumbling I realised the walls were moving and the opening was closing. I ran faster than I ever could.
"Hey stop" the guy running behind me rasped clearly out of breath
I looked behind me and he was surprisingly close but not enough to reach me, I hadn't noticed how fast I was going until then. I did not stop, I kept going. The walls were close to closing but I made it through and just in time too. I saw the look of pain in the guys eyes before the doors closed.
I could briefly hear the guys on the other side.
"Well shuck" the guy who chased me said
"The first girl and we already lose here" some guy said
"No, we killed her. No one has ever survived a night in the maze and she definitely won't." some other guy said.
"Maybe she will, she out run me and I'm the fastest runner here" the guy who chased me said
"No. Don't get your hopes up, no one survives a night in the maze, especially not with grievers" The guy said
I looked around and realised I was inside a maze.
"What the hell are grievers" I muttered
That's when I heard it, a mechanical sounding click. I looked around to see a weird looking monster.
"Oh" I said
