I woke up in a strange bed, well it was more like a cot. It was quite comfortable actually, I was about to allow myself to fall back asleep when I remembered what happened.
I looked to my right to see the guy named Newt asleep in an armchair. I looked around the room, by the looks of it I was in some hospital/medical room thing. I stood up and felt a rush, I needed water.
I walked to the front of the room and downed a whole bottle of water, I grabbed another and walked out. It was dark and the moon was up, it must have been past midnight. I looked around me, I was about to analyze everything when I stopped myself.
God knows how long I have been asleep, I need to calm down and wait till morning. I can't get answers until everyone wakes up anyways. I went to this big field of grass, it was all grass with flowers except there was one big tree in the center.
As I was walking up to the tree I found a knife sitting on the floor, I picked it up, just in case you know. I climbed the tree all the way to the top, there was a curved branch on the top, almost like a swing except it was sturdy and didn't move, it was pushed forward so anyone walking could see me.
I sat down, I felt calm. As much as I knew I should sleep, I couldn't. I had too many questions plus I had just slept for god knows how long. I just sat there with my eyes closed, refusing to think, I didn't want to. I had analyzed everything from the second I stepped out of that box and I was tired of it.
"Your quite up there" A voice said
Instantly I knew it was Newt from his accent
"You should be sleeping" I replied
"So should you" he countered
"Fair point" I said
"May I join you?" he asked
"I guess, but just know I have a knife" I commented
"Got it" he replied
He climbed up to the tree, he didn't sit in my swing branch but he sat next to me on a different one.
"I'm surprised you haven't asked questions yet, most greenies ask millions"
"I'm not like most greenies" I said simply
"No, you are definitely not" he agreed
We sat in silence for a moment
"Is it always this quiet?" I asked
"At night, yes" he replied
"It's nice"
He nodded "It really is"
Another quiet moment
"Do you remember your name yet?" Newt asked
"Yeah, Eloise" I stated
"Nice to meet you Eloise" he laughed
"By the sounds of it my friends called me El"
"Do you have your memory?"
"No" I shrugged "but it just sounds right"
"Well El, it's nice you remember that"
"I didn't say you were my friends" I said "you earn that when I know for sure your not trying to murder me"
He just laughed
"What are we even supposed to remember" I asked
"Well the people who put us here let us remember 2 things, and 2 things only. Our name and one fact, for everyone it's been their birthday. Well everyone except Ben but that's a whole story on it's own, when's your birthday?"
"I don't know"
"Oh, then what's your fact"
"What's Bens"
He frowned "Fine but don't tell Ben I told you, He has a sister and he remembers her name but he won't tell us what her name is"
I gasped
"Uh oh what" he said
"Well my fact was that Ben was my brother" I said quietly
Newt looked at me weird
"Well that explains it then" he said simply
"This is all just strange and wrong" I felt like crying
"It gets better, I promise" he reached out for my hand
I just flinched. He looked at me weird, almost analyzing me. I felt very uncomfortable, I looked down. I was wearing black cargo pants, a cropped white tank top, a zip up army sweater that was opened and black boots that had a heel.
"What the hell" I grumbled
"What?" Newt asked
"Whoever picked my outfit is an idiot" I replied
"What why?" he asked
"I'm wearing a crop top and boots with heels in the middle of- well I don't even know where I am but that's not the point"
He shrugged "well you look good"
I was very glad it was dark or he would have seen me blush. I don't blush.
"Come on" newt said "we should go back"
I didn't say anything. I followed him back to the medical room and sat on the bed.
"All your questions will be answered tomorrow on the tour, try to sleep" Newt yawned
"Ok" I said
I ended up falling asleep excited for what tomorrow would bring.
