After finding and activating an ancient relic she found in the Regis's Genesis pit, Annie soon discovers that she's not only brought complete strangers into her world from another universe, but has also irrevocably changed the outcome of her own universe—affecting both her life as well as the lives of her friends. Now with new strangers thrown into the mix, Annie and her team will either find new friends or make new enemies as they make their long journey to Reflex Point. The battle with the Invid wages on, but so looms another growing threat—and one that may spell the end for both of their respective universes.
Chapter 1: The Genesis Pit
The three Robotech rebels never saw it coming when the ground opened up like a carnivorous maw, and swallowed them up. It seemed only moments ago they were cautiously exploring the area, making sure it was safe and free of Invid before their friends arrived. Now, Scott, Rand, and Annie, were falling down some kind of bottomless pit. And where it would take them, God only knew. But at least the two men had their Robotech panoply and Cyclones in case it was danger that awaited them. Annie, however, was not a soldier but a twelve year old orphan girl that had joined the band of freedom fighters she now considered her new family. And being the plucky girl she was, had insisted that she come along with Rand and Scott rather than staying back with the others.
She'd been riding pillion behind Rand, and driving him crazy as usual, but now she was clutching Rand's armored waist, screaming so loudly that neither he nor Scott could hear their own terrified howls as they were being plunged into complete darkness. Then without giving it a second thought, Scott reconfigured his Cyclone to Battle Armor Mode, and told Rand to do the same. He thought it best they have some kind of protection for when they reached the end. Could it be this was the end for them all? Scott began to worry. Unfortunately for Annie, she didn't have any armor, and as soon as Rand switched to his Battle Armor, that's when the poor girl had lost her grip and was now falling freely.
Amazingly, Rand had acted just in time, and caught the girl. He'd even opened his helmet, and held her face close to his just so she could breathe some of his air. She was a pain in the butt a good part of the time, but nevertheless he'd grown fond of her, and was doing what he could to shield and protect her in that moment of uncertainty. What was happening? Where was this strong current of air and gravity taking them? He had so many questions running through his mind, but it seemed as though they weren't going to be answered anytime soon. For now, the two men were relying on the thrusters of their Cycs, only it didn't appear to be stopping their fall, and now they found themselves headed towards a eerie red glow.
Upon first glance, it was easy to assume it must have been some kind of lava pit, being that it was giving off some kind of heated glow. The two men instantly hit their burners in attempt to avoid a fiery death, but the afterburners did no good, and they were plunged into the hellish looking pit anyway. Amazed that they hadn't been boiled alive, they observed what appeared to be some kind of energy field all around them. Neither of them even had a clue if they had reached the bottom yet, or if they ever would; as it appeared this pit seemed to go on for eternity.
And then there was a splash.
Apart from a massive headache, Scott felt nothing but utter confusion, and then realized he was now sprawled out on his stomach on top of some kind of soil. He groaned, trying to adjust his vision as he attempted to take in these new and strange surroundings. Where were they? They certainly didn't look like the same earth they'd just come from. The plants were large and nothing at all like the ones he'd seen before. Had they ended up on some other planet? He wondered, when he next spied Rand a few feet away, sprawled out along the stretch of the sandy bank where they'd landed.
