The Final Drive

Chapter 1: Leading in to the Season

Bill Belichick calls a practice before the first game. "Alright Guys!, I want us prepared for this game against the Dolphins. It's in Miami so the chances of us winning are pretty slim."But I've got confidence in you guys." We just signed Revis in the offseason after we lost Aquib so if we can can convert on defense we have to capitalize on offense. Ok guys!?" "YES COACH!!!" "Ok, now go get warmed up. I want 4 laps around the field right now!" Let's go!"

After the 4 laps, all of the players except the captains, Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski, line up in the end zone. Brady and Gronk are standing about 5 yards in front of them. "Ok guys, 45 jumping jacks!" Belichick yells. Brady and Gronk count until they hit 45. "Now, 30 push-ups!!!!" Brady and Gronk count again until they hit 30. "Now, pick a partner and have one of them hold your feet while you do 50 sit-ups then vise versa. When one player is done, immediately switch to the next player." "Anyone is see that stops for more than 5 seconds will have to do 2 laps around the field. "So let's go!!!" Brady and Gronk teamed up. Julian Edelman and Darell Revis teamed up. Aaron Dobson and Danny Amendola teamed up. Everyone else found a partner. There's just enough players so everybody gets a partner. Everybody gets done with no problem. They know if you get Belichick angry, you're going to end up paying in the end.

"Nice warmups guys." "Now we'll just set up some formations for the game. Brady you'll be on offense. Edelman on the left. Vereen behind Brady. Amendola to the right. Dobson in the slot. And we'll have Gronk block. It's going to be a PA Deep Outs. I know you guys have done this play many times before!!" We will try it without defense then with defense. Without defense first!" "42,13, set h-hike!!" Dobson cuts to the right while Edelman goes for a slant and Amendola down the field. Brady throws it to Amendola down the field and he catches it. "Good play guys!" "Now let's do it with defense!" Everybody gets in their positions on defense and all of the blockers on offense do the same. It's snapped and Brady is under pressure, Gronk couldn't hold the block. Brady sees Edelman of the slant so as soon as Brady threw it, he got hit and went down. Edelman hangs on to the ball and breaks away to the end zone. "Beautiful play!" Belichick yells. Now, nice practice, tomorrow at 10:30 a.m be here. It's when out flight leaves for Miami. Today's Friday and we have to be there by Sunday. So if we leave tomorrow we'll be there for Sunday." "Now, get out of my face, I'll see you tomorrow."
