Wei Wuxian was having a time of his life teasing Jiang Cheng for his choice of an ideal cultivation partner and they were now laughing loudly, having a pretended fight on his bed. They knew they could afford to cause a ruckus since the silencing talismans he had put up before they began their small drinking party were especially designed to block off any noise at all. Since Lan Qiren had it out for Wei Wuxian already, they could not let themselves be discovered.

They have thought they were safe and could cut loose for a while. Wei Wuxian could not stand the strict and uptight Cloud Recesses anymore. There was nothing to do here beside perhaps studying and meditating, no wonder all the Gusu Lan sect disciples were so uptight. Everything fun, even by far and not at all up to his standards, was forbidden here. So Wei Wuxian supposed they really had no other option since they knew nothing else.

The Gusu Lan sect could have all their rules, but he could not bear them anymore, he needed a short breather or he would go insane; or even worse, he would turn into a monk, just as the rest of the inhabitants of this place.

He knew he was not the only one who needed some distraction, so they have gotten together today with Jiang Cheng and Nie Huisang for a small private drinking party. Nothing much really, only two bottles of the Emperor's Smile and some peanuts that the Qinghe Nie disciple got who knew where. The evening was just starting and they were already all a bit tipsy. And who would blame them, they did not cut loose for more than a month.

In the best part of the argument between Wei Wuxian and Jiang Cheng, the door to the room suddenly flew open. All three disciples immediately straightened themselves and pretended nothing was wrong. It would have been much more convincing if there were not the two open and half empty bottles of the Emperor's Smile on the table and a mess of peanuts all around it. The situation must have been clear on the first glance to anyone who came inside.

And it was not only a somebody, it was Lan Zhan himself who was now standing in the middle of Wei Wuxian's room, glaring at the other three disciples. He seemed furious, although it was not showing on his ever expressionless face, only in his eyes.

He was holding his swords tightly and Wei Wuxian was worried that he would draw it out any second, just as he did in the library previously. The Yunmeng Jiang sect disciple had a distinct impression that while Lan Zhan was rumoured to be an emotionless Jade statue, nothing was farther from the truth. He seemed to have been feeling things deeply, especially his dislike towards Wei Wuxian, but he simply not let it show on his face.

Wei Wuxian sighed internally, why did it have to be the Second Jade who walked in on them? He was sure that his talismans had been working just fine, he had checked them just an hour ago too. So it could not have been like Lan Zhan had heard them. Perhaps the Gusu Lan sect disciple had a kind of a sixth sense for any rule breaking going on? Wei Wuxian was almost ready to believe this option, he had already been caught a number of times, and each one was by Lan Zhan.

He really must have had a nose for those things, or he was keeping a close eye on Wei Wuxian very much like Lan Qiren was by now. Otherwise, why would he have barged into his own room without as much as knocking? Wei Wuxian was sure that breaching another's privacy was against at least one of the 3000 rules.

There was nothing to do now if he did not want their behaviour to be reported but to try and convince this piece of cold jade to not tell on them. How could he do that? It would be best if he made Lan Zhan break the rules together with them, then there would be no problem. Surely the Gusu Lan sect disciple would not report his own rule breaking and they could also have a great time between the four of them. It would be killing two flies with one hit. Perhaps he would also finally warm up to the Yunmeng Jiang sect disciple.
