When Keandra and I entered the academy the next day, I had to explain to the teachers that Skylark is a maglin and I am his master. I told Skylark not to fight back or even dodge when others tried to attack me. Skylark didn't like the idea, but he still obeyed. After classes we continued training Orion and Ari for the time that we had left before the ceremony. On the day before the ceremony we had both of them fight one another.

I cooked again that night, Orion and Ari seemed excited. They kept complementing me as they ate their food. When we finished cleaning up the table, Orion and Ari went out the door. Ari gestured to follow her and I did. Orion was with her.

"We've been wondering something," Ari said.

"Yeah," I replied, moving my hands closer to my hips.

"At this point we know you're stronger than you look, and I apologize for everything I have said to you," Ari bowed as she explained.

"That's fine, so what do you want to know," I asked

"Why don't you fight back or talk in the academy," Orion asked.

"That's what you want to know? Well I don't really have a reason. Talking, I just didn't really feel like talking with anyone. I don't fight back just so I can keep up the act of being the weakest, nothing else," I replied.

"Then why act weak," Ari said

"Well no reason really I just thought it would make things interesting and it has made a few things easier but I won't say what," I answered.

They seemed confused by my answer, but they didn't ask anything else. I walked back into the house after seeing Orion and Ari leave. Skylark stretched and walked over to my room. I said good night to Keandra and Master Bi, then followed Skylark. He was already sleeping on the bed, I gently moved him so I could get on the bed as well. I drifted off to sleep. The next morning a dove flew up onto our porch. There was a note attached to its leg. Keandra took the letter and began to read it to herself. I watched the dove leave. I lost track of it as it disappeared into the clouds, I felt a tap on my shoulders. I looked back at Keandra. She handed the letter to me.

It read, "All participants meet with your partners and go to Havens Hollow."

I looked at Keandra and she was already getting ready. I decided to get ready as well. Although it was pointless, since I didn't need much, all I really needed was my glove for my left hand. I left my room and found Skylark lying on Keandra's lap. Keandra was brushing his fur. I watched them from the side without them noticing me until they eventually finished. We left the house and walked over to Havens Hollow and Skylark was trotting beside me. When we reached Havens Hollow there was a huge door in front of us.

Everybody had already beaten us there. There were people from other branches of our school. The rest I assumed were the teachers from the other branches as well. The door slowly opened and everyone headed inside, following behind the teacher who went in first. It was dark at first, but the more we moved foward the more it grew brigther, until the light revealed a huge arena where we all gathered. They split us up by schools. From there they split us up by who was an Angel and Battle Angel. When everyone figured out where they were suppose to go, an unfamiliar figure appeared in the middle. He was wearing a hood that covered his face completely and I could barely sense their prescence well.

"I will now announce the students who ranked number one in their respective academy branch and their chosen partners," The guy said, his voice sounding feminine.

"When I call your name come up here. Max Furmer of Tippleton Academy West, his partner Kace Turner."

They walked out and high-fived each other. Max had hazel eyes and black hair and was wearing a scarf, red tunic. Kace had brown eyes with black hair and was wearing the same thing as Max.
