I woke up in startle. Aegis and Asurmaru were sitting beside me. They had a worry look on their faces. I looked around. The fires seemed to be put out completely and spell I had casted had dissipated. There was still dead bodies. I looked at Aegis and Asurmaru and sighed.
"It wasn't a dream was it?" They didn't answer.
I looked at the ground Keandra's body was gone, all that was left was Keandra's dried blood where she was laying. The sword was gone as well.
"Where is the body?" I looked at Aegis.
"I don't know. I collapsed a little bit after you did." Aegis put her hand on my chest.
"The body wasn't here when I came here as well, about 3-4 hours after I passed out, the fires were put out by the time I got here," Asurmaru added.
"When I woke up. I found that you were still asleep. During that time I heard something that sounded like a person but I don't know," Aegis said.
"Voices? Hmm, I heard a voice before I passed out. Do you still hear the voice," I asked.
"No I haven't heard it for a while now."
"When you heard the voice, did it sound like a girl by any chance," I questioned Aegis.
"No it sounded more like a boy," Aegis answered.
I looked at Asurmaru, but she only shook her head.
"Only me and Aegis then. Well neither of us are hearing it anymore, let's forget about it for now," the memory of the figure standing over Keandra's body appeared in my head,"Let's focus on the finding the bastards who did this. After we see if-"
I looked over to our house, to only see that it had been reduced to rubble. I heard a small hum from withing the rubble. I ran over to the source of the sound and started carefully removing the rubble. I found Grayson underneath it all. I continued to remove the rubble around before pulling him out to the side.
His wounds didn't seem severe. His shoulder had been pierced, and was already bandaged and his right leg was broken. I checked for a pulse,he was still alive. I heard another sound but it sounded more beast like. I rushed over and eventually found Skylark. His wounds also didn't seem to severe either but he was unconscious. I picked up Skylark and started sending some of my magic into him from my hand. His eyes slowly opened and he looked at me before moving his gaze away from me.
"I'm sorry Asher, I couldn't protect her," he said in a defeated tone.
"It's fine. Can you tell me what happened," I inquired.
"I-it's mostly a blank. We started to see the fire. Keandra told me to go investigate but everything suddenly went black. My body ached, I heard a loud crash, Grayson and Keandra's voices. I think I passed out shortly after," Skylark explained.
"Okay, thank you. How are you feeling? Think you can stand on your own for a bit so I can pull Grayson out," I asked him.
"Yeah I should be fine. Only one of my paws hurt," He answered as he stood on his own with one of his paws off of the ground.
I carefully moved the rubble so I could pull Grayson out and carry him to the side where Aegis and Asurmaru were. To make sure I checked his pulse and sighed in relief to find out he was still breathing normally. I called out his name over and over before his eyes twitched, and he opened them. I helped Grayson try to sit up right helping him up with my arm. He winced and looked as his leg, before looking at me.
"You're back, Asher, and it seems you managed to beat that Angel Slayer," he looked around, "Where is Keandra?"
I looked at him and slowly shook my head, Grayson looked down and took a shaky breath.
