Carolynn's POV
The bathroom was the best place to go. I walked into school. Stepped into class and the next thing I know gunshots. Not the kind where there's only one bullet coming out of the gun. The kind where there are multiple coming out within seconds. Now I'm in the bathroom. The lights are off. I'm in the corner in a stall curled up. I have my phone in hand. I make sure my phone is silent and at the lowest brightness. I quickly tap my mom's contact and go to messages. I then hear footsteps approaching. I hear a gunshot. I notice the gunman is shooting under each stall. He wanted to make sure he hurt everyone. I quickly text my mother.
I Love you mom.
A bullet flew into my stall and right through my leg. I try not to scream. He then leaves. I take off my knee-high sock and wrap it around my wound. I somehow make it to the door and peek out There were about eight dead bodies in the hallway. I crawl back into my stall and just wait. I look at my phone and see all the news notifications popping up.
Southbound High School Shooting: Shooter still active in the building.
I notice how much blood I'm losing. I start to get woozy and uneasy. Tears drop from my eyes as I start to feel uneasy. I think about my mother and how she would react to losing another child. How would she be able to live after this.
Monique's POV
I break multiple laws driving to my daughter's school. I shake at the wheel. I see a message pop up on my phone.
I Love you mom.
What could that mean? Has she been shot? Is she okay? I get stuck in traffic. Tears start streaming down my face. An incoming call comes in. The caller ID reading Olivia. I answer it.
"Baby I am on my way. I don't want you to see anything. You've been through enough. Don't drive."
"That's too late. Baby, I need to know that she is safe."
She sighs through the phone.
"Okay. I'll see you there."
I hang up. Ten minutes later I pull up to the school. There was of course a scene. Police cars, paramedics. There was the bomb squad and the FBI. There's also a negotiation team. I push through the crowd of concerned and panicked parents. I see Olivia come towards me. We sit on some bricks on the football field. There isn't anything we can do. We wait. We see a dead body, after dead bodies being rolled out of the school. Hoping that one of the officers giving the bad news to parents wouldn't reach us. Olivia gets restless. I hold my wife's hand reassuring her that everything is going to be fine. Knowing good and damn well I was totally freaking out. Sooner than later they are done with the deceased. The injured start to get rolled out. We both let out a sigh. This symbolizes that she is alive. Seconds later I see a girl on a stretcher. Her face was being blocked by a medic. But it was our baby. I bought those shoes a week ago. Those air whatever every teen wanted. Before the officers could walk over we were already by her side.
"Are you her parents?"
"Yes. We are her mothers."
He has a strange look on his face.
"What is it?"
I say as we all get into the back of the ambulance. I'm tightly holding my daughter's hand.
"All the victims are children of same-sex couples. This may be a hate crime."
Olivia and I look at each other. I brush that off and just focus on my daughter. The doctor then says.
"Your daughter was shot in the thigh. It grazed one of her arteries. She lost a lot of blood. But we gave her a blood transfusion and she will need surgery to fix the damage in her leg. She's stable and will probably be up and running in a week."
I place my hand on my daughter's head brushing away the hairs that stuck on her forehead. Due to sweat. She opens her eyes. Tears come out. She starts to hyperventilate. They push Olivia and me to the side. Luckily we were just arriving at the hospital. They quickly roll her out and into the emergency room. They rush her into surgery. Olivia and I wait in the waiting room. Preparing for the worst.

Melinda's POV:
I stand over the body of a 17-year-old high school student. As I fill out all the paperwork. I take a break. Seeing dead children is the hardest part of my job. I pick up my phone and toggle with it. I accidentally turn to the messages. I look at them for a second. I see a message from Carolynn.
How do you stop blood flow from a bullet wound?
Right then and there everything clicks. I grab my bag. And get the hell out of there. The only hospital she could be in is the Children's Hospital. I get there. Get to the waiting area. I see Monique sitting there alone. I take a seat next to her.
"Where the hell is Olivia? She left you here all alone?"
"No, I insisted she go get us something to eat."
"Oh, okay. I was going to go off."
I take her in my arms. I don't ask her any more questions for I don't further upset her. Olivia and Taylor coincidently walk in together. We hold each other and wait for Lynn to get out of surgery. Finally, the Doctor comes out.
"Are you Carlynn's family?"
"Yes."
"So she is fine and she should be up in an hour or so."
Monique slouches as if she is relieved. She cries tears of relief. I am concerned for my sister she seems to be going through a series of unfortunate events.
