You Were Always The One (Jai Brooks Love Story)

Chapter Two

We arrived at the Brooks’ house after around half an hour of driving. I was really excited to see Naomi and Danielle. They were my best friends. Naomi was dating James and Danielle was dating Luke. I was the one that introduced them to the Janoskian boys since I had known the Brooks brothers my whole life and well I guess they just instantly had a connection. They were both adorable couples and I knew Luke and James were excited to see them too. I jumped out of the car, well basically over Jai since he was sitting next to me and ran to their front door. I was the first one there so I began knocking furiously. I just couldn’t contain my excitement. “Charlotte, sweetie how was the beach?” Gina said as she opened the door for us to all enter. “It was so much fun Gina!” I said as I gave her a hug. By now Taylor, Daniel, Beau and James had gotten out of the car and had joined me at the front. “That’s good, now guys dinner is almost ready. Naomi and Danielle are in the lounge and are very excited to see you! But where are Luke and Jai?” Gina said to us. “Thanks Gina! I think they are still in the car getting our beach stuff, they shouldn’t be to long.” I said with a smile as I bolted into the lounge room to see my two best friends sitting on the brown, leather couch watching some TV. “Naomi! Danielle!” I squealed as I ran towards them giving them both massive hugs and almost knocking them onto the floor. “Charlotte!!” they both said as they hugged me back. Luke and James appeared in the lounge. “Excuse me Charlotte, but I would like my girlfriend to stay alive, instead of you suffocating her.” Luke said sarcastically. “Shut up Luke!” I said as I grabbed the nearest pillow and threw it at him. He caught it just in time and threw it back to me while he laughed to himself. “Omg Luke I missed you so much!” Danielle said as she ran up to him and kissed him passionately. “I missed you too babe.” Luke whispered into her ear. They were adorable as always. “JAMES!!” Naomi said as she leaped towards him, all most knocking him over because of her excitement and hugged him. “Hey beautiful!” James said as he stroked her long, black hair and pecked her forehead. I was really happy for them but I couldn’t help but feel a little jealous. They were both perfect couples and here I was sitting on this couch like an idiot smiling at their cuteness with no boyfriend to be excited over. Oh well, I guess there happiness was what mattered most.

Luke’s P.O.V

I was really excited to see Danielle. I hadn’t seen her since last week and I missed her like crazy. I could tell James was really excited to see Naomi as well. Charlotte jumped out of the car almost hurting Jai in the process, who could blame her though; she missed her best friends and was very excited just as I was to see my amazing girlfriend. Danielle and I had been dating for around a year and a half. Those eighteen months were the best eighteen of my life. I loved her bubbly personality and her smile. I knew as soon as I laid my eyes on her that she was the one for me. She helped me deal with all the hate we got just because we make harmless YouTube videos and she was always there for me and for that I loved her so much. She was honestly the best girlfriend and I was so lucky to have her. I guess I have Charlotte to thank for that; she is the one after all who introduced us.

Jai on the other hand, well I had to ask him. I knew that look he would always give her and I knew he liked her. She was oblivious though, I don’t think she had any idea about Jai’s feelings for her but I knew she liked him too. I had a plan though. I was going to make her realize that Jai was for her. I don’t know how, but I would figure it out. Honestly, I had never seen my brother look at a girl that way before. Maybe he wasn’t ready to tell her how he felt or maybe he just thought she would reject him. Who knows? I had to find out. I took off my seatbelt and turned to face Jai who was till sitting in the back of the car with his headphones in as usual. “Jai, now that we’re alone I want to ask you something.” “What Luke?” Jai said looking rather suspicious as he took an earphone out of his ear. “You like Charlotte, don’t you?” There I said it. No going back now. I just hoped that he would tell me the truth. “What the hell Luke? Of course I don’t.” Jai said looking at me annoyed. “Jai, tell me the truth, I see the way you look at her.” I said trying to convince him. “Look Luke, just drop it okay?” Jai said as he got out of the car and slammed the door shut. I knew he was lying. I had to get it out of him. I’ll talk to him again later. That would probably be best. I got out of the car and went inside to see Danielle. This was going to be a very interesting night.

 Jai’s P.O.V

 What the hell was wrong with Luke? I just couldn’t tell him. I don’t know why but I couldn’t. Of course I liked Charlotte. I have known her for so long. She was my best friend and I could tell her almost anything, well besides how I felt about her, she would always know the right thing to say to cheer me up when I was sad and her smile just made me melt. She wouldn’t feel the same way so I guess that’s why I’ve just kept my feelings to myself. I wouldn’t want to be awkward either; it could ruin our friendship and that meant too much to me. Just because Luke has a girlfriend and his life was all perfect doesn’t mean that he can start knowing all of my business. I had to get out of the car before I lost it. I slammed the door shut and went inside. I needed to cool off. I went into the bathroom and washed my face. I wish Luke would just mind his own business.
