"Mahira kitey ae too puttar! Teri madad chahyie or gal bhi karnee hai" (Mahira where are you? need your help and need to speak to you too) Mahira's mother Haseena calls.

"Jee Ammi Abhi aayee". Mahira quickly wears her white salwar qamees with a white dupatta draped around her head. She puts a little moisturiser and rushes downstairs to see what's up?

"Jee Ammi....kya baat hai."

"Arey Puttar tumhare abba ki tabi'at bareey kharab ho rahee hai(You father's health is deteriorating). He has several breathing problems and you know that here in Pakistan we don't have the appropriate respirators. The doctors have recommended that we take him abroad. But beta you know our financial circumstances. Zyada paise nahin hai mere paas. Aur to aur tumharey abbu key qardh bhi adaa karna hai."

Mahira tried to stop herself from falling to pieces and getting herself depressed over her father's illness. She was only 22 years old, an age where she should be going to university to study medicine and fulfilling her dreams. But for the past 4 years she was working part-time at a near by primary school whilst taking care of her father who is suffering from multiple diseases: Diabetes, High Blood Pressure, Kidney Stones. But for Mahira taking care of her father was an honour for her. The doctor had told her clearly that to not have any hope for him to live than for more than 6 months. But today with the blessing of allah her abba has managed to go above and beyond the doctor's expectations. But now the doctor had diagnosed him with Kidney Failure and now needs an urgent transplant. But where was she gonna get the funds? She tried to be strong and brave in her mother's presence as she knew she had to be. But she also had to be realistic...A kidney transplant would cost alone 150,000 rupees not to mention all the hospital fees that go along with it.

Mahira considered her fate to be cursed...she felt so helpless. As a daughter how was she meant to tell her mother that her father also needed a kidney transplant? How could she shatter all of her mother's remaining hopes in one blow! NO she thought. If Allah Miyah wanted to test me like this then so be it. As in the Quran it says that god does not test a soul beyond its capacity which means that God knows that she will pass this exam too with flying colours.

She turned to her mother with a smile graced on her face: "Don't worry ma. We're gonna get through this. "

There was no way she was going to give in. She never had. She never will.

As Mahira wakes up in the morning she finds her mother at the kitchen table in a very distressed state. She sits down besides her and asks: "Kya hua Ammi (What happened Mom?)

Aleem's P.O.V

Aleem knew that he would be deadmeat the second he enters PET, judging by the look his father Salem was giving him from the glass window at the showroom. Aleem sighed to himself in a mixture of frustration and anger. Someone must've filled popsy on his latest drinking and partying habits- not to mention that one time when some dickhead spiked his drink and he kissed a random girl. Which was also surprise surprise photographed. Most days he enjoyed the attention as he knew that attention to him would mean attention to PET. These peasants could never afford such a lifestyle himself so they go around damaging others reputation.

As he got out of his black aventador his eyes locked with his father and he could just see the disappointment in his father's dark, deep eyes. He began climbing the flight of stairs until he reached his father's office where Saleem is now sitting at his usual desk from 20 years ago with his computer and papers all over the place. Saleem doesn't even acknowledge Aleem's presence.

Aleem thought that today he is definitely getting the silent treatment, he thought.

After a couple of mins Saleem looks at Aleem. He feels sorry for him. This is not the way he brought him up

"Beta what do you want me do? We are running a muti-million company and do you have any realisation of how many clients we have missed on because of your press controversy. Why did you have to hurl abuses at that policemen...you could've had a bit of sabr(patience). "

"Dad you know how that policemen really pissed me off. He only stopped me because I was driving a fancy car."

"But puttar u know that we have raised you to be better than that. Now there is only way to solve this problem and to put it straightford : you need to get married."

Aleem sputtered water from the glass he was drinking from "What!!! Come on popsy no time for jokes right now. You've got to be kidding " Aleem said as he gave off a hysterical laugh.

Saleem sighed and put his hands on his head before continuing: "This is the issue with you, my son. You think that all and everything is a joke. Sometimes I feel like Ashifa and I have gone wrong somewhere with our upbringing. You seem to take everything for granted. Young guys your age aspire and work hard to be in your position, whereas you have received all in a golden platter. Value it my son. But you need to bear one thing in mind if you don't get married then you can kiss your dream good-bye of taking over as CEO for PET. This is my ultimatum."

"Popsy I am not going to get married just because of a few media controversies. You are essentially depriving me of my freedom. You know very well what my track record is with girls....I'm not ready to settle down. I just wanna live my life free on my own terms..."

"Ok then puttar 'live life on your own terms' and forget about being the CEO of PET. Simple as that."

Aleem gave an intense glare to his father who was cool in return. Aleem stood up, angry and ballistic throwing any nearby objects that he could find like Vases and other ornaments. Saleem was used to this. Aleem would do this when he was a child too, his remorse was that his sun seemingly hadn't seemed to have evolved from his childhood self. Saleem found over the years that it was just better to remain calm rather than lose sleep.

"YOU ARE NOT BEING FAIR ABBA!" he bellowed, his voice echoing in the office before heading towards the door.

"Oh and Aleem." Aleem turned hoping that his father would realise his mistake and remove this stupid, unnecessary condition.

"I have already selected the girl you are to marry."

Before Saleem could continue, Aleem had already stormed out of the room closing the door behind him with a huge THUD!

"Kab sudre ga yeh larka!(When will this boy learn?) thought Saleem. Saleem was incredibly worried about him. He knew well that Aleem was not going to agree easily and it was going to be no easy feat. Saleem sighed. It was going to be a long, long week.
