Bits Of Reality

I was sitting in a bench. Nasa park ako mag-isa. Just observing my surrounding. Hindi ko naman mapigilang hindi mapangiti nang may makita akong mga batang dumaan. It's as if they were talking about something that's really amusing. Napatingin naman ako sa isang mamang nagtitinda ng street foods. He's smiling widely to his customers. It's as if he's enjoying what he does. Napataas ang kilay ko sa isang magjowa na naghaharutan. I'm not bitter or something so I just looked away and smiled. Naaalala ko kasi si Kent.

Napatigil naman ako sa pagmumuni-muni when someone had stopped right infront of me. Napatunghay naman ako sa kanya saka sinalubong ang mga mata ng isang estranghero. Bright brown eyes. It looks so lively, yet still, it looked like it's suppressing something from within. Nagtaka naman ako nang bigla itong maglahad ng ice cream. Cornetto to be exact.

"Ha?", sambit ko naman at bigla naman itong ngumisi sa akin.

"Here, it's my token for you missy.", sagot niya kaya napakunot noo naman ako saka siya inilingan.

"I'm sorry, but I don't do accept things from strangers.", turan ko naman pabalik kaya napahalakhak ito.

"Fine, fine, I'm Theodon? Now you know my name, you still won't accept this? Kakabili ko lang nito dun sa 7/11 oh. And I also have one.", aniya saka ipinakita ang isa pang cornetto.

"Fine, kung sakali mang mamamatay ako dahil sa cornetto mo, I would surely haunt you for the rest of your life.", sagot ko kaya mas lalo itong napahalakhak. Napatitig naman ako sa kanya as he took his time laughing his a*s off. He really looked lively, but still, there's really something wrong with his eyes. It's as if it's a cloud of darkness as you stared at it.

"Woah, why are you staring at me? Do you find me awesomely handsome?", napairap naman ako sa sinabi niya saka binalatan ang cornetto at sinimulang papakin. Umupo naman siya sa tabi ko na siyang hinayaan ko naman. I was happily eating my ice cream when I noticed that he was staring at my hand, well, to my ring finger to be exact. Kung saan may suot akong singsing.

"Oh! You're married? Or engaged?", tanong niya kaya napasulyap naman ako sa singsing ko saka siya nginitian.

"Engaged.", sagot ko at hindi ko alam pero mas lalo naman itong napangisi sa sagot ko.

"I saw you observing everyone earlier. And it seems like you looked happy.", panimula niya kaya napataas uli ang kilay ko.

"And?", sagot ko naman at nagkibit balikat naman ito.

"Would you like to know the reality behind those facades of theirs?", napatitig naman ako sa kanya saka napalunok. He smiled at me saka may itinuro.

"Those children, what can you see in them?", tanong niya kaya napahinga naman akong malalim.

"They're talking about something that's pretty amusing.", sagot ko at napailing naman ito.

"Yes, well, that's a little bit right, but do you want to know what's really the reason behind those smiles?", napatitig naman ako sa kanya nang magsalita ulit siya.

"They were talking about someone whom they bullied. Talking abour pornograhic sites and all. They're talking about their deeds that a kid shouldn't do.", napalunok naman ako nang may itinuro ulit ito.

"What about those couple? Do they looked happy? Of course they do. They 'LOOKED' happy, when in fact they're not. Both of them are already tired with each other. Iyong isa may isang kinakalantari nang iba, habang iyong isa tinitiis nalang ang lahat, because everyone that surrounds them, wanted them to end up together.", hindi ko alam pero bigla na lamang may sumulpot na mga imahe sa isipan ko. Why am I seeing these?

"Those three girls who kept on giggling and chatting with each other? They looked like they're really fond with each other right? But little did they know, sinisiraan na nila ang isa't isa sa tuwing nakatalikod na ang bawat isa sa kanila.", dagdag niya pa at hindi ko alam pero bigla na lamang nagsituluan ang mga luha ko. Why is he saying all of these?

"What about the street vendor? Does he looked happy doing his job? No, he's not. He's already tired and frustrated about life. And you know what will happen later on? Once the sun sets and he'll be alone? He'll take his very own life.", napahawak naman ako sa dibdib ko nang tila ba naninikip ito at hindi ako makahinga. Patuloy pa rin sa pag-agos ang mga butil ng aking luha. Napapikit naman ako at labis na lamang aking pagkakagulat nang pagmulat ko nang aking mga mata ay wala na ako sa park. I was already standing on an edge of a cliff. Napasigaw nalang tuloy ako saka napalingon sa likuran. And right there, I saw him. Theodon. Just blankly staring at me.

"And this is your reality, Hailey. You were two-timed by your fiancee. At sa sarili mo pang bestfriend. Your mother was diagnosed with cancer and your father was into drugs. Ang kaisa-isa mong kapatid na babae, was impregnated by someone whom she even didn't know so well. Your reality was so much like this. Like you it's as if you're standing on an edge of a cliff. And now, it's your choice to face your reality or end it. It's just either of the two. Now, what choice would you make?", aniya at mas lalo naman akong napaiyak nang maaalala ko na ang lahat. When I realized how fvcked up my life is. I cried so hard to the point na hindi na yata ako makakapagsalita dahil sa namamalat na ang lalamunan ko. Nanginginig pa ang mga labi ko habang tinitigan si Theodon. At bago pa man ako makasagot ay nagsalita na 'to.

"But everything have already happened Hailey, nangyari na ang lahat, I'm just making you realize what you have chose to left behind. Nakapili ka na and you already chose to end your reality. You decided to end it all, instead of facing it.", anunsyo niya and right at that moment  I saw my self falling into a dark pit. It was as if an abyss of misery deep below the ground. Sucking my life out of my body and pulling me deeper in darkness.

I just smiled sadly when I realize what his name means. Theodon, it was the greek god of reality. And he indeed, showed me, what my reality is.
