Seeker Sought

Rain pelted the bungalow at the edge of the quidditch field as one Gryffindor student sat and meticulously wrapped their ankle in a bandage. Nothing major. In fact, it usually happened like this when it rained. A deep ache in her bones. Gram always said it was hereditary, this ache in the bones.
'I always get meself a right old pair of achey knees before a storm. Like clockwork it is!'
But yet again, Anna's grandmother wasn't always the most reliable person. That garlic clove to the ear never seemed to do what she promised it would. Nor did the Wiggentree bark in her belly-button.

"You right?"
Anna looked up as Oliver trudged down the stairs sopping wet, boots leaving muddy prints behind him.
She could only grin, "Maybe if you didn't insist on training in the rain we'd have less injuries at training"
"Are you telling me you can't play this weekend?" his tone was joking but immediately sparked a reaction.
"Wh- No way! And you better put me on second half of the game or I'm going to go bonkers"
"What can I say? I like hitting them hard and fast to start"
Anna clicked her tongue, pulling her sock on over the makeshift brace for her ankle, "But we always get messy in the second half. If we just made sure we had a defensive chaser play-"
"Snore snore snore" called another voice also trudging down the stairs.
"More strat talk? Bore-ring!" a second voice, most likely the second pair of stomps to be heard.
"Fred, George. You two are on bludger clean u-"
"Already on it" said Fred, shucking his gloves.
"Already did it, you mean" corrected George, following suit.
The beater pair were a force to be reckoned with, even though it was their second year on the team. Anna herself had been playing just as long and loved her position as chaser and seeker.
"How'd the new kid go Ollie?" Anna asked, raising her brow skeptically. He'd been approached by Professor McGonagall with a potential team member and the two had had a one on one session earlier in the day. A first year? Stupid idea if you asked her. There was no way they'd handle being on a real pitch.
"Well, he seemed keen enough. Understood what a snitch was and what he needed to do"
"Wild card that one" said George
"In our little brothers year that one" added Fred
"Hold on a second" Anna said standing up waving her hands with annoyance. The twins mimicked her actions but she hardly had the mind to notice.
"You're putting him as seeker? In his first game!? You know bloody well how important a seeker is and I've been training to-"
Oliver raised a hand and Anna clamped her mouth shut to prevent what she really wanted to say from spilling out.
"Professor McGonagall said that-"
"Oh blow her!" Anna burst out and the twins simultaneously started "You know how much I need to be playing!"
Oliver's lips tightened and his jaw hardened, "I'm not benching you Broadmoor, I'm just putting you as chaser for your main position"
"But scouts are flooded with potential chasers and beaters! What they really want is a bloody good seeker and that's what I am!"
"Even if you do say so yourself" chorused the twins before gaining a scathing look from Anna.
Oliver sighed and shedded his muddy and wet boots carelessly, "It's one game Anna. If the kid doesn't want to keep playing, so be it. But I promised I'd give him a go"
Anna gnawed at the inside of her cheek before grabbing her robe and slinging her red and gold tie about her shoulder like a scarf.
"Whatever, but you know I'm right"
"Even if you do say so yourself!" the Weasleys called again as she exited the bungalow, quidditch robes in hand.
