It was twilight when I reached my block. I didn't mean for it to be so late, but I lost track of time. That normally happens in the hole. The hole is a small hang out place on the edge of town that has all kinds of smoothie and slushes. I look up at the beautiful sky and see a small spot flying across the sky. It ducked and dove through the air like a kite. I stopped to watch the thing. After a minute, I lost sight of the object and continued my walk home.

I entered my house and turned on the hall light. My parents aren't home yet, so I don't have to worry about getting yelled at With the same lecture that always starts with them saying, "matt Sullivan, where were you?" And ending with me saying, "I promise I won't come home late again."

Squeegee met me at the door, waging her tail in excitement. I pet her behind the ear and entered the kitchen. I let squeegee out into the back yard, and started to make me something to eat. I found a tv dinner in the freezer and decided to have that.

As I sat down to eat I heard squeegee barking like crazy in the back yard. I opened the door and yelled out to him,"Squeegee, come here girl!"

I watched as she came bouncing back to the house, noticing something stuck in her mouth. As she came into the house I realized what it was. She had caught a small fruit bat.

"Squeegee, no!" I said to her, taking a towel and trying to get the bat out of her jaws. She finally let go and dropped the bat on the floor. It screeched in pain. I then realized that I can't just throw the poor guy out, my conscience wouldn't let me do that. I picked up the bat and carried it into the landry room. I grabbed a cardboard box and sat the bat in it with the towel. I wrapped the wing where squeegee's tooth had snagged it and went to wash my hands. I finished my dinner, took a shower, and went to bed thinking about the bat in the laundry room.
