As I awaken in the morning, I dreaded the day ahead of me.
Going back to college.I have been anxious for months, considering I should have already finished. Being 24 and going back to college where everyone is fresh out of high-school and starting their freshman year, it seemed a bit odd to me.
Nevertheless, I wasn't a quitter.
I finally stretched my limbs and laid there staring at the ceiling, when my phone suddenly rang.
"Hey Areeya, time to start college today! Get up!", my mother said through the phone.
"I'm up, I'm up!", I said as I rolled out of the bed.
She laughed and started chanting, "Let's go! Let's go!". Hearing my mother's voice relaxed me."Alright ma, I'm up. Let me get in the shower, and I'll text you when I make it there." I say as i look out the window. It's a bright shining day, and there is a lot of people walking the streets.
"Well ok sweetheart. I love you! Try to make it on time."
"Alright, I love you too."
I laid my clothes out and prepared to get in the shower. I suddenly felt the need to look out of the window again, just to see how beautiful the day is again. That's when I noticed a black car sitting in front of my house. I never seen this car before. Then it pulled off. I shrugged it off and continued gathering my things for my shower.
After what seemed to be an hour of bathing, I went down to the kitchen to make breakfast.
"SHIT! I'm gonna be late!" I grabbed my bag and breakfast then headed out to my car.
As I'm driving on my way to class, I see the black car again that was sitting in front of my house. Are these motherfuckers following me? I turned at the next street to go a different way than usual. They didn't make the same turn.
"Okay, maybe I'm just trippin'. Relax Reya. You're getting yourself worked up." I say to myself as I take a long deep breath.
Finally, I arrived at Atlanta HBCU.
There were sorority sisters and fraternity brothers everywhere. I always wanted to be in a sorority, but I dropped out of college due to a huge accident in my past."AYE, REYA!", I hear someone call out from a distance. I turned to see my bestfriend P, short for Prienna. P is a delta and one of the most popular girls on campus. Everyone loved her. She's tall and slender with an olive skin tone, green eyes and long black and a ass like nobody's business. Versus me, short and thick with big curly hair, brown eyes and brown skin. We are the complete opposite, yet we have a lot in common.
She finally caught up to me and hugged me really tight. "I missed you so much! Why haven't you been answering my calls!?", she said as she touched my face and hair.
"I'm sorry, I've been going through some things and needed some time to gather myself. I'm happy to see you though. What's goin' on? Why is everyone outside?" I said as I looked around campus. People are setting up tents tables with chairs.
"We're having a Welcome Rally!" She says, jumping up and down with excitement.
"A Welcome Rally?"
"Yeah! For all the freshmen so we can get to know them. But of course we turn everything to a party!" She laughed then grabbed my hand. "Let's go! I want you to meet someone!"
