"...I think of this city the same way I think of you."

"And.... What exactly would that be, Goldwath?"

"Beautiful."

{Princess Lazuli's POV}

Did....... Did he really call me beautiful?? The princess was half asleep with her head rested on her paw when reading her book, startled only awake by the sudden increase in her heartbeat. It had been days now since she saved the Thanagarian and began meeting him in secret, and the two formed a strong bond with one another. It was barely 9 in the morning, and already she desired to be free from her schedule to go and see Goldwath. Her face flushed a bright pink at the thought.

Well, he's also pretty himself... she thought, mindlessly reading the book. She chuckled sheepishly to herself as her eyes skimmed the text. Definitely prettier than any Atlantean I met who wanna take my hand in marriage. If only the stupid law wasn't a thing would I actually marry Goldwath.

'You will find someone here who will win you over, and you will marry them! You gotta give it time and the potential suitor your time as well.' That's what Dad would say to me. But I haven't found anyone here who I like; they're all so boring and mainly just wanting to marry me to be royalty themselves. They don't love me for me; they only love the idea of being intertwined with jewelry and money. Lazuli sighed. Plus, that someone I like is from outside Atlantis. She closed her book, burying her head in her paws.

How am I going to sort this...?

{Goldwath's POV}

I can't believe that word slipped out of my mouth!

Lazuli managed to sneak Goldwath a hideout spot in Atlantis that prevented him from getting spotted by citizens or royal guards. It was in the lower parts of Atlantis, the poor side of the city. Goldwath had experienced worse, this was nothing to him. He sat in his makeshift tent and huddled himself within his good wing.

Me, calling the princess of Atlantis beautiful. A PRINCESS!! That's royalty I basically professed my feelings to! He lifted up his wing. I embarrassed myself, and she's probably embarrassed too. After all...we could never become a thing. She can never marry a surface dweller... No, I-I already have my eyes for someone else. Goldwath poked his head out, letting his good wing go limp. He sighed as he looked down. Hawkgirl... I hope you and the Justice League are doing ok, and you haven't given up on me yet. I'm sure you'll convince the others to.... Wait-

He was in Atlantis. He wouldn't know when the League would be searching for him. After all, they'd risk violating the law, and that would add a lot more to their plate. He looked to the general direction of the palace that stood in a tall glory, his mind occupied on the princess. If I leave, I'll break her heart. And who knows how long it'll be before I could see her again...No! I can't leave. No, I have to! The League needs me to take down Dazzling Hawk and the Rebels! But, no, no, I can't leave Lazuli because she's gorgeous and I....I love her...but....I also love Hawkgirl!

He lowered his head, sighing.

How am I going to fix this??
