prologue

I was in class staring out the window in a daze. Today was a beautiful day, the bright rays shining down intensely from the clear sky. Though, day dreaming, I only saw the darkness from those events that have been playing on repeat in my head.

"(Y/N)? Are you alive?", Gojo-sensei jokingly asks, waving his hand in front of my face.

The last few days I've been unable to pay attention to anything, the events of that day replaying in my mind.

Why did it matter? I was alive. Life was back to normal, as normal as it could've been anyways. Yet the curse's face was the only thing in my usually full-of-thoughts head.

Gojo informed us that we'd have the new boy joining us, the one who saved my life. The one who gave up his own life to save mine. Itadori Yuuji, a pink-haired boy, two twin scars positioned right underneath his wide eyes. He seemed too naïve for
his own good, his positivity suffocating, even if I had only briefly met him.

Coincidentally, I bumped into him in the hall that day after class, Gojo seemingly giving him a tour of his new school. Falling to the ground, my eyes widened, I stared at him in... gratitude? Shock? Terror? His face was so similar to that of the curse who spared my life. "Woah, are you okay?", he asked concerned. I relaxed, realizing how tense my body was after seeing him. His voice was not the one I expected, it did not sound the same.

A mouth appeared on the side of his face, "It's you!", it exclaimed.

Yeah. I think my eyes were going to pop out of my head. I recognized the voice, different from that of the boy I just heard. This one was much deeper in pitch and tone, making it that much more intimidating. That was the same voice of that thing from that evening.

My stomach was churning. I'd been thinking of what to say for this exact situation the last few days, but it was rather intimidating now that the time had come.

"Why didn't you kill me?", I managed to spit out.
