"You know, I can make your life very painful. What little of it you have left, anyway."

She said nonchalantly as she slowly approached the cage.

"Either tell me why I'm here or leave me alone." you barked in response.

She wasn't too happy with that but she decided to humour you. "I'm in need of an ally, someone I can trust. I need someone who's capable of achieving certain tasks that will ensure that my reign will last forever."

She began circling the cage.

"That doesn't explain why you need me specifically."

"I don't need you, specifically, I need someone like you. Someone that the humans trust."

"What makes you think I'll ever work with you?"

"You don't have a choice. You either save me the time and effort by choosing to side with me or you die and I'll replace you with some other poor, lonely, individual. Either way, I still get what I want. So, which will it be?"

"You're just going to have to kill me."

She sighed in disappointment, stopped pacing and sped through the glass walls into the cage, wrapping her hand around your neck as she did.

"You're a waste of my time!"

She lifted you up by the neck and slammed you up against the glass causing it crack.

"Looks like I'm gonna have to find another sad, pathetic human to help me achieve my goal. Any last words?"

She loosened her grip just enough for you to be able to speak freely once more.

"Screw you."

She began squeezing harder, staring straight into your eyes as she watched your life slowly beginning to fade away. She watched intently as you slowly began losing consciousness. She had already heard the same empty phrases of moral grandstanding time and time again, wannabe heroes who at the first sign of real danger turned into pathetic, sniveling cowards. But when she looked into the eyes she noticed something...you were content. She knew you couldn't overpower her but the fact that you didn't bother struggling was unlike anything any of the previous victims had done. Your careless attitude towards death sparked something within her. She pulled back and slammed you into the glass again causing it to shattered completely. "Why do you insist on being so difficult!?" She demanded as she knocked you to the ground, digging her heel into chest as her eyes began glowing a fury shade of red.

"They don't deserve to die."

"You're willing sacrifice yourself for what? Those...humans? Primitive monkeys that don't even know who you are!?!"

She threw into a nearby wall preparing to blast your head off. "They'll never your name. You'll never be remembered."

"It's...not...about...that." She loosened her grip as you began speaking. "It's about doing what's right. Being a hero. A real hero doesn't do what they do for the credit, they do it because it's the right thing to do."

"Your "heroes" are dead. I kill them all personally."

"Not while I still breathe they're not." She wasn't sure what world you were from talking like that. Your devotion to your cause was incredible. She thought about what someone with your level of devotion would be able to achieve in her regime.

She smiled in excitement. Releasing you from her vicelike grip her, flying you out of the cage room to her proving grounds. An old rundown subway tunnel that had been reworked into an arena.
