"Everyone stay calm! Evacuate to the forest and find shelter!"

Screams could be heard from each part of the town, the tree of life had been eradicated into a gateway for demons. Civilians could be seen ripped apart where flesh and bone separated. Carrying children and babies, everyone started running to the forest in hope to flee from their town of demons.

I hid behind a pile of broken wood planks, covering my small ears from the terror happening to the town . I had just turned 9, my mother and father had previously gone to a flower store before we were overrun by demons, I would have never wanted those tulips if it meant all this would happen. I scrunched my eyes letting my tears run down my cheeks, I hear the moving of planks and opened by eyes to see my fathers figure hover over me.

"Come Reata! We need to head to the forest!"

"Where's mommy?" I asked.

"She's grabbing supplies so come!"

I grabbed on my dads hand as he pulled me out of the mass of planks. He swung me around facing his chest, he called out to my mother.

"Jerrica, I have Reata let's go!"

No reply was heard from the distance as my father called again.

"Carl help-!" My mother screamed before her sentence was cut off by a demon jumping on her shoulder, mouth clutched on her neck as it ripped out her vocal cords. Her now limp body dropped forward, falling front first, as the demon began to crunch through her spine reaching her internal organs.

My father gasped as he witnessed his wife get gutted by a demon. He stumbled backwards as he realised he was still holding me in his arms. He turned around and started running to the forest, he didn't dare look back.

"I'm sorry Jerrica..." He whispered under his breath.

"Daddy what about mommy?"

"Don't worry sweetheart daddy is here, so just close your eyes for now."

He began to sprint towards the forest, dodging all the branches and rocks in his way. When we were safe enough my father carefully placed me in a large log, being careful to not cut me on a sharp edge when placing me. My frilly dress was now drenched in mud and splinters.

"Daddy is going to go search for anyone else who needs help okay? So be a good girl and stay hidden until I come back." He kissed my forehead and gave me a necklace. "Mommy and I couldn't find you your tulip but we wanted you to have this." I fiddled with the necklace he placed around my neck. It had a crystal orb curdled in a cage of copper, glistening in the dull light.

My father ran off to go help the rest reach the forest, as I sat in the moist log twirling the necklaces chain between my fingers

My father ran off to go help the rest reach the forest, as I sat in the moist log twirling the necklaces chain between my fingers. Suddenly a loud explosion was heard beyond the forest where my father ran to. I squeezed myself into a small crevice of the log, frightened that I was now alone and had no one to comfort me. Footsteps came running towards my direction. I wrapped my self in my embrace and held my breath...

"It's okay sweetheart I'm not going to hurt you," a croaky voice hummed. A bony hand reached out towards my neck, I flinched at the sight of its hanging flesh as bits dropped onto my lap. Suddenly the being was thrown back, the now bony hand was laying on my lap, detached from it's owner. I screamed, not being able to contain my fear. The being was now laying by a tree truck, I could finally see it's body. It's limb that supposedly fell off wasn't even it's own, it was my fathers arm, brutally gnawed at the end and whatever skin was left still felt warm.

I quickly crawled out the log and began to run as far away as I could. Tears poured down my chubby cheeks as I my vision blurred. I bumped into a lady covered in scars, her hair was cut shoulder length and she was looked like she had been fighting. A man was in the distance and she looked to be running like I had.

"Run Teara, until your legs feel numb and your breath is heavy. Please, don't let him get you, this world rests in your hands."

"What..?"

The man in the distance spoke, "Never knew your last words would be advice for yourself."

"Just run, I beg of you." She spoke as she pushed me forward.

I tripped over a small rock and cut my knee as I fell. I looked over to the lady that pushed me and spoke those words to me. I saw she was gone and so was that man. I remembered her words, I started running again, and took one look behind me to see a puddle of blood where the lady was previously, accompanied by a shadowy spear that looked as if it was just thrown.

I kept running and running, night reached upon the sky and my legs felt numb as if they weren't even attached to me anymore. I saw a shrine in the distance, small glowing lights pierced my vision as my breathing became rapid. My limp body began to fall forward before a figure my size came rushing out of the shrine. Faint words were heard as the figure catched my body as it fell.

The last thing I remember was hearing a boys voice call out to someone at the shrine.
