hi hi hi besties

so, before we start i'm gonna be completely honest, this is the first story that I have written, like ever (not including the vast amount of english essays and short stories I did in english lessons lol) so please don't expect it to be amazing or well-written since it is a rough draft and in need of thorough sessions of editing.

so, because of that, I understand that as this book might get readers I know that it will not be everyone's cup of tea since the first chapters might be cringey or poorly written, so it's completely okay if you want to stop reading if it doesn't meet your standards. but please don't be a mean bitch about it, thank you.

This book is not a romance book, as it revolves around the mafia and my primary focus is writing about my favourite trope, which is the main one in this book: found family.

HOWEVER, Ana does have a love interest and there will be snippets of them! but yet again, romance is not my main priority here, the Romano family is, so there won't be as many interactions as you would wish there were and for that I'm sorry!

My main goal in writing this novel is to write about Ana's journey as a girl who overcomes trauma with the help of those who love her, and how even while you may be in a dark place, haunted by monsters and shadows of your self-hate, that there is light at the end of the tunnel; there is hope that you will get better and will just be comfortable in your own skin, and maybe even happy.

This book will be fairly light and overall more fluff and cute wholesome family interactions but the plot and certain scenes I have planned are dark, and so very sad and fucked up, so please take the trigger warnings below seriously.

➸ physical and mental abuse & the aftermath of it

➸ neglect and very flawed shitty people

➸ explicit sexual assault and rape (in some scenes it's described, in others not so much, so please beware that they will be very dark & twisted and prioritise yourself!)

➸ child abuse, both sexual, mental and physical.

➸ human trafficking, more so child. graphic violence and even more graphic child death. please don't take this trigger warning lightly.

➸ mental health (self-harm, depression, anxiety, OCD & ptsd, panic attacks, trauma responses, night terrors) & more

➸ murder

➸ mentions of multiple attempted suicides (so fucking dark and full of gore you guys, so please beware of this too as I know it'll be triggering for some)

➸ and lastly, death. a whole lot of it.

and a little something before I finish up, a dedication if you must, for those also having a hard time, please know that whether it's with school or at home, whether you're struggling with your mental health or self-esteem, to remember that you're doing the best you can and even if you simply just wake up every day and are still here, that's an accomplishment on its own and I'm so proud of you.

everything does get better, I promise. the hardships you're struggling with now and the insecurities and doubts that afflict you will seem minuscular a year from now.

please never forget that you're beautiful and worthy even on the days you don't feel like it and you're deserving of everything good in this world.
