Your hand touched a rather freezing cold part of your blanket, as you squirmed yourself awake. It was impossible to sleep now since it was so sudden. You lie awake just wanting to go back to sleep, but sleep was not what you were going to get. You calmly jutted yourself up from your tethered old bed, rubbing your eyes to see more clearly, trying not to wake anyone up. For a while you had been training for the Survey Corps, training to be the best of the best in the Walls. A soldier.

The creaks in the floorboards were hard to get around, but being one to always try not to step on them for fun made it easier. You slowly turned to check if no one was watching, and opened the door of the girls barracks. Luckily it wasn't squeaky either, just hard to open, but if anyone were to see you heading out, you'd for sure try to come up with a reasonable excuse so they wouldn't follow. You loved having friends beside you all the time, but, having time to yourself was amazing as well. You walked out enough to find a patch of grass next to a beautiful tree with flowers with popping colors. It was close to summer after all so everything was blooming, but that didn't mean it wasn't cold either. You didn't think to bring your shoes and was also terrified of the dark.

Tempted to go back in, you hesitantly shrugged it off since this was the only time you could be by yourself. Sitting under the beautifully old looking tree you gazed at the stars, wondering what could be out there, then wondering, what's out beyond those walls. You were always worried, missing details in training because of spacing out, and it never seemed like anything was real. Like every horrible thing that had happened was a long, long dream. Almost tearing up at the thought of one day having your mind slip, and being killed because you couldn't even realize a titan was in front of you. So, you tried your best to pay attention when learning. You came to the Survey Corps to be a figure that your family, all of humanity, and yourself could be proud of. At times you regretted ever joining, being horrible with extreme tasks, but somehow you got through to be able to stand it.

You had also met amazing people here. Krista Lenz, such a kind-hearted soul who you could always depend on for help. Armin Arlert, a comforting, amazing boy who was genuinely nice to talk to, and Sasha Braus, an amazing girl who was fun, light hearted and who always tried her best to slip a few more pieces of bread to you if you ever sat together eating. You adored everyone there, not being able to put into words how much you appreciated every single one of them, but that was another problem. You were so attached to people who could die at any moment. Your heart felt like it sank, tearing up even more.
