Cross's POV
I was waiting for my secret lover, Dream, to meet me in Outertale. I was supposed to be on a mission for Nightmare but I decided to do it later since Dream and I arranged to meet here for a date. Of course no one could find out we were dating or we'd be screwed. I soon saw the smaller, positive guardian coming through a portal, making me smile. "Hello, my little sunshine." I greet, my smile widening a bit more once I saw his gorgeous light golden blush dust his cheekbones. "Hello, my big fluffy Oreo." Dream greeted with a smile, making me blush softly. I walk over to my lover and hug him before blinking as I felt something being put on my head. I look up and see a flower crown made out of fuchsia dark eyes. "Isn't this..." "The flower crown I made you when we first started dating? Yeah. Happy fourth year anniversary." Dream finished my sentence. I smile and kiss his cheek. "Happy fourth year anniversary." I smiled before getting on my knees. I blush and pulled out a small, golden ring box. I decided today is the day I would propose. We've been dating forever now and I really wanted to marry him. "Dream, I've always loved you. Your smile is as bright as the sun and makes me happy, your personality is as sweet as honey, and I love every piece of you. So, will you make me the luckiest man alive and marry me?" I saw Dream covering his mouth and crying tears of joy. I smile and was about to open the ring box before suddenly dropping the box, coughing up purple blood.
Dream's POV
I can't believe Cross proposed! I feel so happy and was going to say yes before paling. A tentacle had impaled Cross's spine. I quickly summon my bow and some arrows of positivity, looking at Nightmare. "What are you doing here?"My voice trembled. "Oh, you know, killing a traitor." Nightmare said so casually as two tentacles came and impaled Cross's skull and soul. "NO!" I ran to Cross, throwing my weapons aside so I could hold him and heal him. I saw so much blood being coughed out. I yelped as some tentacles picked me up, holding me in the air and away from my monochrome lover. "CROSS!" I cried out. I couldn't lose him! "H-hey sunshine...things might not l-look good but I'll still love you...even though I-I'm about dead. Make me a p-promise....keep....smiling...for me." Cross smiled as he slowly started to dust away. "Cross no....please..." I cried. "Shh....could you...smile for me before I go?" Cross asked, but I couldn't smile. "How am I supposed to smile?" "Dream....please...one last....smile....please." Cross begged. I took a shaky breath and was about to put on a fake smile for him before screaming as I saw Nightmare throw Cross into the endless void of space. "No! Wait!" I tried to reach out to him. Cross smiled sadly before fully dusting. I start sobbing. I never got to fulfill his last request. "Cross..." I called out before full on sobbing. My soul hurt so much. I throw up blood, coughing and gasping for air. "Oh quit overreacting you big baby. I'm not even choking you. Hell, I only injured you emotionally." Nightmare rolled his eye. I wasn't overreacting. I couldn't breathe. I suddenly cough up a fuchsia dark eye petal. "What the fuck?" Nightmare sounded pissed, confused, and...worried? My vision slowly faded and I fainted in the tentacles.
