It is the 50th anniversary of the creation of pongsketball. And I thought I would like to share the history of the legendary sport, and why it became one of the most popular sports in all of history. And without ado, let's begin!
It is the year 2021, which is about the time of the covid-19 pandemic. In a school, a bunch of grade 7 students got bored. As basketballs were banned, they had to think of something else to play their favourite sport. What can they do? One of them proposed that they should use ping pong balls instead, which weren't banned. And so, the next day, they got out their ping pong balls, and started to play the legendary first game of pongsketball.
Pongsketball then was not like pongsketball now. In fact, the first game was played with 6 people, with a small area and only 1 hoop. They also only used hands instead of rackets. As the recess went on, more and more people came and watched the students play pongsketball. Even the principal of the school came out and watched the game commence. A guy from a nearby building filmed the whole process, and posted it online, instantly getting it viral. And that is how pongsketball began.
Nowadays, pongsketball is played on a bigger field with 4 people on each side. There is still only one hoop, but the players use rackets and they start at opposite ends of the field. There are quarters on each match, allowing the players to rest. Substitution is only allowed once between the second and third quarter. The hoop is also a little bit smaller than the usual basketball hoop. The hoop also has an AI to move around the field, making it harder to score a point. Whichever team gets the ball first is the attacking team. If the defending team steals the ball and brings it to their spawn or the ball goes out of bounds, they switch sides immediately. Only the atracking team can score.
There is one more thing I would like to mention, and it is that the strongest pongsketball player is from hong kong, where pongsketball began. The PWO, Pongsketball World Organisation has a whopping 128 teams from all across the world, 10 of which came from its founding place. Pongsketball became popular in the 2030s and since then many people have trained to become a legendary fighter. The best pongsketball players up to date are Ash Ketchum and Serena Yvonne, both born from incredibly athletic families. At the age of 16, they are considered to be the godlike duo. Scoring win after win in matches even against giants that are way taller than them.
'I have liked pongsketball since I was a kid' Ketchum said. 'It was popular, fun and a great sport for training overall muscles. I was thrilled when I joined my school pongsketball team, and soon discovered that I was talented at it.' 'I love pongsketball! It is a great sport for team coordination and exercise! You can't go wrong with this sport, really!' Serena Yvonne exclaimed.
Pongsketball is currently the most popular sport in the world, even developing countries like it. But it probably will be taken over by another sport later on. Still, pongsketball will pass on to be the legendary sport in everyone's hearts and history books.(sorry future students who are reading this)
