I parked in my driveway and everybody else parked on the street. We walked into my house and my mom immediately started talking. "Hey sweetie! How was your last day of school before winter break?" she questioned me before I could even get in the door. "Fine mom. What do you have for snack?" I asked. "Well, we've got chips, dip, carrots, and pizza rolls." she answered. I grabbed some carrots, Caleb got some pizza rolls., and Zoe and Madeline got the chips and dip. Then we walked into my living room. I turned on the TV and we ate.
There was nothing good on so I turned it off and we started talking. "So, are we all excited about going to the church retreat." Zoe asked obviously excited. "Oh Yeah baby. North Carolina!" Madeline shouted. We all laughed and Caleb looked at me and said,"How about you short stuff?" "Uhh, I don't know. I mean I am definitely not skiing." I replied. "Neither am I." said Zoe. "Me neither." said Madeline. "Same here." agreed Caleb. "Yay, we're all gonna be together." Madeline said hugging us. She is so crazy. Maybe thats why we're best friends. You know opposites attract. Like, positives and negatives and.... wait, sorry I'm about to get all sciency. But you know what I'm trying to say.
"Lets play a game." Madeline said being very childish. Caleb looked at her with the funniest look on his face and said, "Dude what are you, four." Madeline looked at him, stuck her tongue out and said, "At heart, yes." "Alright, what game?"Zoe asked. "Hmmm, how about hide and seek." she said. Again, I know, very childish. But, hey we're juniors. Its fun to act like children. "Ok, how about teams?" I suggested. "I call Zoe!" Madeline screamed. Oh crap. Of course she would do that. She so wanted to make me and Caleb partners. Oh well. I guess i'll just have to deal with it. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Sorry. I had a little moment.
"Alright, Zoe and I will count and Caleb and Samantha will hide. Oh and you have to hide together." Madeline said winking at me. Ugh. "Go, 1,2,3,4,5,6,7....." Zoe started counting. I grabbed Caleb's hand, ignoring the sparks I felt, and pulled him away. I knew just where to hide. I pulled him upstairs and into the hallway.
"Alright you see that giant laundry basket over there." I said pointing. "We're gonna hide in that?" He asked looking a little confused. "Yep. Its a lot bigger than it looks." I answered. "Alright. I trust you." he said looking a little scared. We climbed in and he said,"Wow, you were right." "Told you." I said looking smug."I assume you have a smug lookon your face, but I can't tell because its so darn dark in here."He said. "Yeah, you'll get used to it." I replied.
We waited for a while and then we heard foot steps. "Hey what about in there?" I heard Madeline say. "No way. They wouldn't both be able to fit in there." Zoe said. Then they walked away and I had to bite my lip to stop myself from laughing. I knew they were talking about the laundry basket. We waited a while longer and we heard, "Alright. We give up. You can come out now. We forfeit." Zoe yelled. I jumped out of the laundry basket and said, "Hahahahaha we were in the laundry basket the whole time." "I told you." Madeline said to Zoe. We played a couple more rounds and then everybody had to go. "Bye guys see you tomorrow." I yelled to them. They yelled bye back and left. I can't wait for tomorrow.
