Part V

"HONEY IM HO-"

I hear a loud child-like scream and I wake up to see a tall white man standing over me.

"Who are you and what have you done with Romona" he ask

"oh my god jerry i literally told you i had a friend coming over" says Romona as she's walking out of the bathroom

i was only half awake so i was confused during this whole interaction. Then it clicked and i realized i was in Romona's bed.

"ummm.." i say as i look around the room because i'm just as confused as Romona's roommate

"you told me you had a group project to do" he replies "not a booty call"

"i-" i start but i'm interrupted by Romona

"she's not a booty call you idiot. We were working on our project all night then we went to sleep on the floor." Romona rolls her eyes

Romona's roommate and I both look at each other then back at her. "THEN HOW DID SHE/I GET ON THE BED" we say in unison

"OMG calm down please!" says Romona while waving her hands around.

Romona turns and looks me straight in the eyes "i tried waking you up but you were so out of it you couldn't even walk straight. So i walked you over to my bed as best as i could and i slept on the sofa"

"wow what a gentleman" Romana's roommate adds sarcastically.

"ANYWAYS" he adds loudly "my name is jeremiah but you can call me jerry"

"or just call him fa-" Romana starts but she's interrupted by jerry punching her in the arm pretty hard.

"behave yourself in front of company" he says to her in a very non intimidating voice.

while they seem like a fun time, i'm sure this is my cue to leave. I gotta get home before my mom calls the police or something.

But before i can walk out of the door Romana grabs my arm. "hey at least let us make you some breakfast. little ole Jerry here is the best chef in the city."

"awe that's the nicest thing you've said about me in all the time i've known you" Jerry says while wiping away an imaginary tear.

i've never been one to say no to free food

"i guess it wouldn't hurt to eat something before i leave"

"there's also a spare tooth brush in my bathroom if you'd like" Romona gestures to the bathroom

then i suddenly remember i just woke up so i probably look disgusting.

I usher Romona and Jerry out of the room "alright alright i'll be down there in few minutes"

Before i can close the door behind them Romona puts her foot in front of the door. She's so close i can smell the toothpaste on her breath.

"the wash cloths are under the cabinet. Make yourself at home." Romona then removes her foot and walks to the kitchen.

After cleaning myself up i make my way to the kitchen. I can smell the food all the way from the room and it smells amazing"

"OKAY we've got waffles, bacon, sausage, eggs, the whole nine." says jerry

He has on an apron that's very colorful that says  "bottoms up, in the kitchen and the bedroom"

"wow you really lived up to the hype" i grab a plate and a little bit of everything he cooked

"yeah i wouldn't allow him to live with me if he wasn't good for something" Romona says while sitting in the chair beside me.

"Bitch i literally pay all bills. You'd be nothing without me" jerry rolls his eyes and flips his wrist

"okay but you need me because i'm your big strong lesbian! i protect you from all the big bad haters" Romona replies

All three of us sat and ate our breakfast and i learned a lot about Romona and Jerry's relationship. Starting with why they live together.

Apparently they both got kicked out of their homes at a young age and they group up in a help center for disowned LGBTQ kids. When they were old enough to leave they got this apartment together and they've cared for each other ever since.

It must be nice having someone who can love and care for you as much as you do for them.

"well i'm full and i think it's time for me to go home now before my mom gets worried" i stand up from my seat and grab my backpack

"see you at school Monday?" ask Romona

"where else would i be?" i ask rhetorically. I smile so Romona can tell i'm just joking.

"ahh yes now i have someone to make fun of you with" jerry says to Romona

Romona rolls her eyes before walking me to my car

"drive safe! see you at school"

"you better go inside and practice for that role in the play. i'll be rooting for you"
