Stone brick roads were paved atop clouds. Grassy terrain made up the outer circle of the floating city, forming empty parks that were overgrown with weeds and vines, creeping up carved pillars that formed the architecture.
Their airship landed in said garden, the trio stepping out to see the floating city of Ailsbury. Xander breathed in the crisp air of the abandoned city, taking in the beautiful ruins.
"Ah! I've been waiting so long to visit this city!"
Raymond looked around, amazed by the scenery as he had a list of questions to ask.
"This place looks untouched. How did you know about this?"
"Ailsbury is a popular children's tale in Tisia, about a flying city built by people who destroyed themselves by trying to gain unlimited power!"
"That's a dark story for children."
Raymond sighed, turning his attention from Xander to Sara who seemed off. She had an almost fearful look on her face as she clenched her tome tightly.
"What's wrong?"
"I don't like this place. Let's do what we came for quickly and leave."
Butting in was Xander, speaking so enthusiastically it was almost condescending.
"Have no fear! Raymond and I will shield you so there's nothing to worry about!"
"That's not it. If my knowledge is right, we may not want to be here."
"If you're afraid you can stay in the airship! Come on, Raymond! Let us explore these ruins!"
Before she could stop them Xander grabbed Raymond by the arm, dragging him off as he sprinted into the floating city.
Moving deeper into the city they found themselves in a strange environment. The surroundings gradually became more and more grandiose, stone paths turning into chiselled marble roads and the walls adorned with large gemstones.
The entirety of the city seemed to be indoors, underneath a giant overarching dome of rusting iron that encased them like an egg.
"Marvelous! Ailsbury is more impressive then I could have ever expected!"
Xander was the one who admired the city, stepping in and out of dilapidated houses, Raymond sighing as he watched.
"Xander, you aren't dragging me randomly, right?"
"Of course not! I have my compass to guide me to the treasure that lays in this ruin!"
Extending his wrist, he revealed to him the watch that contained a red orb, something he had never seen before.
